I think the Genesis kicks our ass.

The pennies have been saved the MS3 is mine!
The Genesis weighs in at around 4000lbs and when equiped with it's 4.6l V8 it makes 375hp and 333ft-lb of torque and has an epa rating of 17city/25hwy on premium fuel. So we in our 3200lb car with a turbo4cylinder are getting a measly 1mpg better with 115 less hp and 50 less torque. Hyundai has a winner here even with no aftermarket support that engine is a monster.

drove one today, they had an event at the Mall of America, spun the thing off the wetpad!!! Got to thrash a Caddy CTS and E-class Benz. Good times. Unbelievable interior, average luxury speed, handling, yada yada. 375hp great engine. Nice car. not my style...I'd spend my $40,000 elsewhere. Maybe if the resale value on these tanks (I doubt it will), this will be a nice car to grab in 5 years or so used, after it's been driven by grandpa for 60k miles.

the car is suppose to compete against the 5 series and the g8....our car is not comparable ;)....

Yeah, I was about to say, "ok, so what's your point?". It's a 4 door luxury sedan. The M5 kicks our ass too. (dunno)

I was thinking about the mpg thing too...I frickin' Vette gets 16/26hwy with 430hp. Yah, the Genesis is the pinnicle of automotive tech., our oil worries are over.(second)

Yea I am speaking about it from an engine efficiancy stand point how does a car that weighs about 800lbs more than us and has alot more power and torque pull such great MPG?(eek2)

You know, I just did some checking on fueleconomy.gov and the Hyundai is pretty fuel effecient compaired to others (actually all the Hyundais did well), but then again so is the Vette.

I think it comes down to the manufacturer and what they think is important. The Mazda MSP for instance AND the ms3 are both tuned to be pig rich from the factory, but even still they get OK mpg. Obviously Mazda is more concerned with feeding turbocharged boost than mpg. If you customize the fuel on the cars it is incredible what you get for mpg. I just checked my MSP ant I got slightly over 30mpg over a full tank, that's with base map Unichip. Consider Crawford perfomance STI, 449 awd hp to the wheels, as tested 42.5 mpg. If Mr. Crawford can do that in his garage, you figure GM could probably pool some pennies together (out of there billion dollar budget) and get a similar number on a Malibu.

Gearing. I have a buddy with a last generation LS1 Z28 Camaro who gets 30mpg highway; in 6th gear it turns around 1200 rpm.

"There is no replacement for displacement.". It's nice to have the torque from 8 pistons instead of 4, but unless you drive from point A to point B, all on the highway, this "30mpg" is not realistic. Everyone knows that the typical mixed driving with a vehicle with a V8 is most likely going to attribute to worse mileage than a car with a 4 cyl, especially with a heavy foot.

Yeah, the 6spd LS1s got great gas mileage, but the A4 wasn't all that bad. My T/A can still get 27 on the highway (as in, fill up at side of highway and get on until you have no gas left... none of this city crap!).

I avg 18-20mpg with my city/hwy mix in the T/A and 24-27mpg avg in my MS3. I drive them in the same fashion. V8 is always going to suck down more gas.

my buddies 6 speed ls1 gto gets about 30mpg on the highway. it's definitely all in the gearing.

Agreed...A4 LS2 with higher rear diff (3.51) and Im averaging 20.2 MPG
MS3 Im averaging 25.5

Same driving route, same speeds - V8 in general will suck more gas but this 4banger of ours really compares to a 6cyl due to turbo...

He likes the Genesis.

It's a hyundai car.

I got ya. But why do we keep seeing threads about other cars in comparison? No one's happy with the MS3 performance, we got to compare to other cars all the time and find something better?

I'm just messing with you it's just that MS007 guy got booted from the forums and all that fool ever did was post thread after thread after thread with links to comparison articles. As if he wasn't satisfied with his car he always brought up comparisons. I'm not saying that's what your doing. But I just didnt think this car was anywhere near as comparable to the MS3 to begin with.

Don't take any offense please, I'm a very oppinionated person and always have been.

I don't think there's anything wrong with comparisons personally. They spark debate and led to an opportunity to learn about other cars. I've seen much worse s*** on this forum.
