I think my Wolo horns suck

I'm done with the Wolos. Unless it's 70 degrees outside, they don't work right.

I've got some Hella Sharptones on order now.

The Hellas came in last week, but I spent all my car work time Sunday on my wife's Honda. Motor mount, oil change, and front brake pads. Arrrgh. (drunk)

The Hellas are installed. I used the same brackets I made for the Wolos.

Both Hellas work, but they aren't as loud as the Wolos. As long as they work from here on out, I'm done with messing with my 5's horns. (chair)

Okay, I lied. I wasn't done with the horns.

I felt compelled to get the Hellas up in the grill opening to see if it improved sound output or not. I have a little cheap decibel meter that I got from Sears Hardware a couple years ago so I put it to the test today with the Hella Sharptones. The meter is generic and looks like this. http://www.frys.com/product/6344191?source=google&gclid=CJf7u-rom8sCFQQEaQod4g0I1g

With the db meter 7 feet away at 3 feet high, the Hellas in the first mounting would only hit about 99 dB. After making different brackets to get the horns up into the lower grill better, the dB meter registered 108 dB. Now the Hellas make me wince like the Wolos did, when standing nearby. (boom08)

Excuse the bugs. I had a couple of road trips for work this week.
