What's up fellow 3 owners:

Does anyone feel like making me a satin black evil M rear logo?
I'll pay for it of course... Just like a slightly glossy rear evil M.
PM me please if you're interested!

Cheers,
-Mik

i was wondering the same thing? can you order them or is everyone taking the ones they have and making them custom? I was just going to make my own but if there is a place you can just order I rather do that and not take the risk of messing it up =/

its really not that hard just take it off and get a dremel and from there its strawberry cake :)

That would be cool to do. Im not very good with things like that and would really hate to have to buy new ones if I screwed up.

how do you take if off? I think I could do it myself but im not sure how to take it off? No I would like mine gloss black =)

I used a small screwdriver and it came right off. but its also 80*+ so that helps. lol

this is super easy to do. I used these hobby scissors to cut with.

then sanded it down a bit, applied the gold paint, waited 10 min, then applied a clear coat, and now its back on my car. easy.
now, i didnt sand as well as i should have, but i doubt people are going be like, "hey, omg! that guy didnt sand his emblem correctly!" as i drive down the street. lol

Oh I thought the one on the rear hatch was held in by plastic pop rivets/caps? If it is held on by double sided tape how did you get it to stick back on there? Ok I guess I have a project this week the anticipation is killing me lol.

I think the rear has both tape and rivets. my front one is that way. the string will slide easily behind the tape after its warmed up a bit. when you get to the rivets, just pull up on the emblem gently and slowly and it should come off that way.
as far as how to stick it back on there, you'll need more 3m double sided tape and you'll need to cut it to fit the emblem. or you could half ass it and just spray some clear coat on the back of the emblem and stick on before it dries...like I did. works fine. haha
I'll probably paint it again sometime. lol I have painted this in many colors ranging from yellow to anthracite. lol

My original one was just a simple satin pink for outdoor material.
No sanding was involved. Just a good cleaning, multiple coats of the paint, and bam.
perfectly good paint work on an emblem.

Im going to take mine and have the lady that is painting my lip on my rims paint my "M" so the colors match perfectly.

Any tips on actually painting them? I did my emblems over my"weekend" but im definetly not happy with the result. im going to end up doing it again but i want the finish on the emblems to be harder. any reccomendations? and im also thinking since i have a black car to do mine in a kind of metallic red? thoughts?

Yeah the best thing to use on them is krylon fusion paint. First scratch it up with scotch bright pads and a degreaser to remove any oils. It should work great =) I think you can get that kind of paint at any auto store.. Good luck!

Wow i never thought i would see this come up in conversation lol, i have done about 20 emblems and they all have come out very nice, the first couple sucked but after 2 or 3 you get used to. this is the way that i have found to be the best and most effective way to to prevent any defects or chipping later on down the road. my recommendations for you is this.

1: removing the emblem, if you have not done this i suggest you do it on a hot day or get a heat gun to heat up the double sided sticky tape on the emblem, this
will make removal a lot easier. you can use either fishing line or dental floss. get enough to get a good grip on and floss it between the car and the emblem to
separate the adhesive. the emblem is also held on by to plastic rivets, so when you go to pull it off make sure you pull evenly on both sides of the emblem so
you don't brake it. get a bottle of goo gone to help get the left over adhesive off the car.

2: before doing anything else, get a bottle of bleach. soak the emblem in bleach for 12-24hrs, after the time is up drain the bleach and use a sponge with the
green side on it to get all the crap off the emblem before soaking it for another 12-24hrs. do this 3-4 times.
-- the purpose for this is the bleach eats the chrome off the emblem so you have just the plastic witch gives the paint something rough to stick to instead of
a smooth surface and you wont have to worry about chips in them or scrubbing to hard with a brush at the car wash.

3: after the chrome is off the emblem then you can use the dremel to get the shape you want, on the back of the emblem you can see little support areas, i
used those as references as to where I am going to cut the emblem.

4: get some 3mm double sided adhesive tape and apply it to the emblem before you paint it. them cut off the excess, do this while leaving the plastic on the
other side of the tape. the reason i do this before paint is so you don't have to worry about cutting into the paint to get rid of excess tape.

5: now you should be ready for paint, be sure to apply light coats keeping the can 7-10 inches away from the emblem always start spraying off the emblem and move across the emblem preventing drips or runs in the paint, i personally suggest sanding the emblem with 220 then apply 1-2 coats of sand-able primer, use this just incase you need
to sand it to get any other imperfections out. then after it dries apply 2-3 coats of what ever paint you want, then if its a gloss paint or flat use 1-2 coats of
gloss or flat clear coat to secure it all in, let sit for 24 hours after the last coat to ensure you don't finger print it.

so you will need

floss or fishing line
goo-gone
bleach
sponge with the green scrubby on one side
220 grit
sand-able primer
paint of your choice (flat or gloss)
clear coat (flat or gloss)

and enjoy.

any questions feel free to ask.

Geez... Just give it a good clean and paint the s***. Lol.
My pink emblem hasn't faded or chipped or anything, and I drove with it for months and months until I got my new grille.

Yeah... I did that the first time. and it came out looking like a pile of hot garbage. don't use Valspar spraypaint FYI. Its worthless.
