I present to you, the Passion5

I'm trying :( had to redirect some time into my house for a bit. I finished fitting the condenser and radiator and started sanding the engine bay. but it still needs paint. As soon as I get an evening to dedicate, I'll make it over there.

OMG! You found a dog in there??? How long was that poor thing stuck??!? LOL!!!

Seriously, that is a massive project, and mad props for taking something like that on!

^Hah, wouldn't have surprised me if there would have been an animal taking refuge in there.

Minor updates (to prove that I'm still working on it :p)

Installed techna-fit brake lines
Flywheel is at machine shop being resurfaced
Painted engine bay
Installed 02.5+ Center console to work with the cupholders
Removed exhaust
Installed rear calipers

Sorry for the subpar pics, taken with cell phone. I still need to order the flywheel/pressure plate bolts, steering rack boots and fill in the passenger motor mount. Once I get the trans painted (and those items installed) she'll be ready to slip in :D. I also found out that the Mazda6 ebrake lines are infact a touch shorter than the P5 lines...so I'm brainstorming on that issue for now. I'm also going to whip up a relocation bracket for the rear sway bar endlinks...the stock mounting won't work with my AWR endlinks and i'd love to not worry about that bar flipping over. I also removed the stock exhaust, look how ballin' that joint was! :D

Very nice build! I wish I had the patience to tackle something like this. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Thanks for all of the kind comments, hopefully soon we can see some major progress!

That second part doesn't make any sense since they are LONGER then the mz6 lines... unless they need to be routed differently

I know it's not a great picture, but it does prove the MZ6 lines are about an inch shorter. I bought these based on what other guys were using for the upgrade. That being said, my calipers didn't come with the ebrake brackets that attach to the caliper and I'll need to fab something up or locate the brackets. I believe the ebrake mechanisim on the caliper is in a different location, but then again I don't have my P5 calipers anymore so I'm not sure. I will more than likey need to change the line routing a bit, but as I mentioned before, in prior research the MZ6 lines were supposed to be the drop in solution, which we have established is not the case, a sacrifice I make for you, the mazda community :p (I kid, I kid)

It does! I can say that the MZ6 calipers have a different mounting setup. Where the P5 cable enters from the right of the caliper, the MZ6 enters from the top. I'll get a picture of it all, but I'm wondering if I could pull that assembly off of another car and turn it all around...thanks for the picture!

I need to get off my lazy arse and do my SS brake lines... I think I'll wait until I need to get more pads and rotors though.

Looking good and loving the progress... if you ever need a drinking buddy to help you out, I'm def up for it.

Haha, that's a hell of a hike, I think Ashburn is right at 3hrs away.

I made a little progress on Sunday, my steering rack boots and flywheel bolts came in from mazda. I did the inner/outer tierods, painted the front calipers, filled the passenger-side motor mount and took a good look at how I would set about moving the endlink bracket in the rear. I'll try to get by there one night this week to degrease/paint my transmission and there is a good chance that I'll get my clutch/motor/trans assembled this weekend :D

Maybe we'll drop it in on the 19th? I'll be back at VIR the weekend of the 25th. The goal is to have it driveable by the end of april, I guess I better bump the paint job pretty high on the to-do list.

3 hours is nothing for me considering that my college was about 8 hours (for normal drivers haha) from where I am now

^ very good point, hot pink and did you see the interior >=)

Cant wait to see this thing revived . . . def going to be something.
