I present to you, the Passion5

Yea, the car wont be pink for too much longer. The intake manifold is the stock klze manifold that came in the sedans. This is a jspec klze, it has the proper heads, intake mani etc, but the cams are a different profile. It stil makes similar numbers but with more midrange. After countless hours of research, i've concluded that the benefits of one vs the other are null, its not as if one starts out with 15 more whp. If you want any real power out of it, you would better off going with a de and boosting it. I'll be happy with whatever she makes, afterall it's only a dd. :D

I'll be painting it myself using a less than conventional method...I've prepared myself for the flameage ahead :D

Paint Roller it is ;). After doing countless hours of research (seeing a pattern?) and a few examples in person, I'm pretty confident I can pull it off and have it be a great 15-20'er. I don't want a show quality paint job and to be honest I hate shiny paint, just another thing to worry about. At first I was going to satin black the whole car, but for $50, it's less than the cost of all the rattle cans and I have the majority of the stuff leftover from all of my home remodeling adventures, so just the cost of paint really. I know you can great results with an HVLP gun and a shop compressor and that MAACO can put out a decent paint job, but in the end, this is the best choice for this project.

Some of the roller techniques come out really great in the end. It all focuses around the rest of the work put into it, not just rolling. Good luck sir!

That's very true, and you come to learn that after doing your homework. I'm going for the "Sunburst Yellow" which is very close to the factory yellow, enough that I won't have to redo all of the jams and what not. Below is a few coats I put on the fender with zero prep just to get an idea of the color (I was also testing white on the other fender :p). It looks pretty good, especially in the pictures. That's without any of the wax or wet sanding. I considered trying to pull off a british racing green, but when I saw that the yellow matched so well, I was sold.

There are more examples like that corvair, (orange charger, black fox-body mustang, etc) where had you not said anything, guys could never guess you pulled that off with a roller and $30 worth or paint. I also love the fact that if it scratches, I can repaint and wet-sand to restore the finish, without having to worry about a clear coat.

that actually sounds like a fun part to add to your project car if your not going for a showroom paint job anyway. i tried to convince my friend with peeling clear coat to try the roller technique to paint his whole car but he wasnt sold hahaha
