I now hate my car

Well i put on my MAM 2.5" no cat midpipe tonight. The gains are insane! But sadly with a OBX header, catless midpipe, stock catback pipe and mazdaspeed exhaust my car has crossed the line into rice burning fart cannon sound.

Can anyone suggest anything on how to give my car some dignity back?

get a resonator (glasspack) you can find them at most muffler shops, pepboys, autozone

You mean just get one welded onto the midpipe? Cause there is already a resonator on the stock catback pipe, I was hoping that would be enough but I guess not.

2.5"? That's bigger than the header outlet isn't it? I might be wrong, but I remember this stuff from the hollow cats on my stang. You made a nice resonant chamber with that 2.5" pipe, and the cats really quiet the exhaust. Another resonator will help a little, you could also just get a high flow cat put in the midpipe.

I just put my OBX header on with stock midpipe and an HKS and it's pretty loud. I just put the silencer in the HKS and it's nice and quiet.

haha, glad to see Im not the only one with this problem. In addition, my midpipe was hitting the crossmember, so I went and got a GT Spec ladder bar. Well, that didnt fix the problem, so now I have nice rattle to go along with my ricey sound. On the plus side, it does seem a bit stronger above 5 grand. Will dyno it this week or next.

I put a silencer on my muffler after I put it on, it sounded like a Honda.

Get a high flow cat put in... Seriously, that'll quiet it, and stop those people following you from pinching their noses in disgust. =)

Or swap the muffler/resonator section out with a dual straight muffler setup. Or just get a baffled muffler.

All of these decrease performance (for the most part), but then your car will be quieter, at least. I think most cars need at least one cat. Two is too much, but one is just nicer to the ears and to the environment.

nah dont want to waste money on a high flow cat. Ill try getting one of those glasspack resonators put on my midpipe, if not maybe ill put my stock muffler back on to see if that helps

Sigh.... Where do you notice the gains in the powerband?

there are different resonator lengths too. Depending on what you have on there you can get one's up to 36" long. That should quiet it.

for me its all gears but mostly in the high rpms of first and low rpms of 2nd.

BTW my car is auto so it might be different for you
