we chopped up the factory brackets and welded the seats onto them for a customer's car. as for the air bag wire, well its not going to connect to anything and you will get an airbag light unless you wire in some kind of resistor to trick the computer.

YOu dont happen to know what the resistance needed or what pins to use would you Mr. Ken?

I sure would like to know for my P5 to MSP seat swap coming up.

i am confused why for the msp swap you would need to know that. the seats drop right in unless you are doing something else i'm not understanding...

but to answer the question, no fargin idear :)

I am putting MSP seats in the P5 that had the Airbags....SO i need to know what resistance to use in lace of the OEM Airbag seats and where to put it.

I will look for the answer that is burning you all. The resistor size is in one of my 3000 PM's ;) This may take a little bit.

Ok, The wires that hook to the seats are for the seatbelt warning light. If you retain your stock seatbelts you should not get a Airbag light. I could be wrong but that is what I remember (It was 4 years ago!!). Another option is to meter between the 2 pins on the seat, find the resistance, go to radio shack and get that size resistor.

I just took my airbag light out, Seemed to fix the problem instantly!!

I think I used 1/2 watt, 1/4'd probably work, too. They were kinda hard to find. Radio Shack doesn't have them, I found mine at Fry's.

i've got a place that has every resistor i could ever want. ty for the info. did you just hook a dmm to the seat to check its resistance?

Nah, I did a bunch of research on it, found that value on a Miata site, hoped it would work for Pros, too. Also, I think somewhere in the manual, it gives a range that the Airbag comp looks for. Everywhere I read warned against hooking up a meter to the bag because it takes so little voltage to trigger them. A static charge can actually do it.

so my nervousness was right. i had a feeling i probably shouldn't use the meter. . . . right on, and again, thanks much for the info.
