I have a '04 mazda 3s (automatic). im having trouble figuring out how to modify it. I know im going to put the "cold air intake" on it. Im also going to change the Exhaust. But My problem is... where do i go after that? I would really appriciate any help i can get. thank you.

ahahahah... where do you want to begin...

stereo mods amps, speakers, subwoofers....
exterior mods new grill, body kit, tint.....
perf mods header, flywheel, lightwieght pullies, head work, turbo....
suspension mods lowering springs, coil overs, sway bars, strut tower bar, undercarriage spupports
wheels/tires... pretty much speak for themselves...

Ok... this may sound dumb.. but im REALLY new at this stuff. what is a flywheel for?
the pulleys?

Ok and what are coil overs?

And what is the strut tower used for and the sway bars?

I would REALLy apriciate help..lol as if you cant tell i need it.

Ive tried looking for a turbo for the car but i cant find one.

thanks

oh well i am a moron and said flywheel when you have an automatic, so never mind there.... light wieght pulleys just decrease the rotational mass the engine needs to turn so you get more horsepower from your engine, same as getting lighter wieght wheels if you can knock off about 5 lbs from each corner you should notice a difference... (our stock wheels are around 24lbs for 17")

coilovers are a tunable suspension, you can adjust ride height your self instead of just using lowering springs a good coilover set up is about 1200, lowering springs are about 200 (the ones worth buying anyways) a strut tower bar and sway bars increase your chasis rigidity making it a stiffer car and giving you a tighter feel into and out of corners. the turbo kit (as its just a kit you need to install it) is about 4k and is offered by hiboost through www.protegegarage.com any more questions just ask, thats why the forum is here to help educate (as best we can anyways)

ok.

ok so are turbo's hard to install? can i do it myself or will i have to take it somewheres? ANd what are "cam gears" i think thats what there called. I dont have alot of cash right now so... lowering springs are a better option than the strut tower? LOl... sorry i need all the info i can get.

What are you looking to do with your 3? Just add alittle performance and appearance to your daily driver, or is it going to be a project car\weekend car?

Turbo = 3,800 for the kit. Plus whatever other goodies you will want\need.

Springs would have a bit more of an effect than a strut tower I would think, It would make your car look better as well as gaining some performance as well.

There arent any Cams out yet for our car.

i would do mods in this order....

cai
lowering springs
exhaust
header
sway bars/strut tower bar
wheels and tire
pullies and the such
head work/turbo as you are pretty much at the end of "cheap" bolt on parts

Thanks

Im not really sure.. in the long run this may be a project car, i have a project car right now.. but it sux horribly. so im selling it. the mazda isnt a project car yet. Not till i get more money.
