I need a new turbo for my MSP, don't want to pay dealer $2500!

Hey Guys,

I need to replace my MSP's turbo. I contacted ATP Turbo and they assured and reassured me that their GT2554R turbo would be identical to my MSP's stock turbo. My mechanic buddy tells me it is NOT the same turbo and so he can't put do the replacement. I want to avoid paying the Mazda dealership the $2500 they ask for the OEM, but I still want a stock turbo for simplicity's sake--my mechanic really wants me to get a stock turbo for ease of installation.

Any help you guys can give me will be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks very much in advance,
Bill

Ask your buddy what he feels the difference is. Should be the same unless you order one with a different style compressor inlet or outlet.

It's the same tell your buddy to grow some balls and install it :) Another question why not just install it yourself I can almost do it with my eye's shut (almost)

The difference would be the inlet and outlet flange that you still need to get for your IC piping unless it comes with it......it will save you money if just replace the CHRA (center housing) for $475-$495

correct - the inlet and outlet flanges are different and you will need adapters. the piping may not fit properly. to have the turbo rebuilt is about $1000 after labor, or, as ^he mentioned, about 500 yourself (though you need some weird tools)

i have an OEM turbo going for sale soon, PM me if interested.

well if your'e looking for a stock turbo, I have a buddy who has about 60k on it and i believe he trying to sell it. Let me know. We're local to ya.
