I haven't been able to find a new battery for mine.
I think its funny that all the self righteous "leave him alone" people are now content to rip everyone else who just wondered why he traded and expensive car for an inefficient car and were just looking for an explanation. He OP clearly thought it was a big enough deal to make a thread about it and if it were me, I'd expect people to ask why I'd trade an MS3 for a Ford Explorer then want to lift it.
The man came and he gave further detail. No ones making a big fuss anymore except those who want to gloat in their "e-superiority".

The most amusing part is that the least e-butthurt person in this thread is the OP himself. lawl. I think mckraut's sig says it all:

Just make sure your gas mileage doesn't completely tank (unless you can afford it of course) and enjoy the explorer. It should certainly fare much better in bad weather conditions than the MS3 would.

I'm not ripping on anyone for wanting to know why. People weren't wanting to know why. People were calling it a dumb idea because it's less efficient. Fine, great, it's less efficient. Fuel costs are a fraction of the cost of ownership, and ditching on a car simply because of gas costs is an incredibly short sighted approach to vehicle ownership. Projecting that same view to someone else's ownership is just as silly. I know people that were willing to take a $15,000 hit in depreciation on their vehicle simply to save $1,500 a year in fuel costs because they were driving an SUV. This is dumb.
Likewise, assuming the total cost of ownership of a 10 year old vehicle is going to be the same as a new one you're still making (likely big) monthly payments on just because it burns more fuel is silly.

Regardless of what the circumstances are. Yes you made a dumb decision stepping down from a MS3 to a Old ass explorer (gas Guzzler). I don't know you or don't need to, but this is directed towards anyone who's case has the same scenario.
If you weren't entirely paying for the MS3 and were ditching out the extra 234 to your parents for the payment and broke a promise to them. THAT'S YOUR FAULT, regardless of what it was doesn't matter. You said you broke it!! You made a bind and had a responsibility.
So in my terms anyone who can't keep a responsibility should pay for their consequences and learn to Igknowledge other things that are important. you took a loss and i don' feel sorry for anyone who loses something that was very valuable to them. I was in that situation once, and know how it feels. You can't live life your way, There are standards!!
My point is you need to start taking (RESPONSIBILITY) seriously!! I make mistakes sometimes and i pay for them, but to lose a car, house, wife, etccc...is on yourself. No one else.................Just my 2cents
BTW: good luck with your explorer, maybe one day you'll step into the (MAZDASPEED) family again

i think driving the explorer is punishment enough. most of my classic mistakes were made in college. this kid is just carrying on the tradition. personally, if i could go back, i would...it was friggen fun.
good luck. in my opinion, jacked up trucks are less fun in deep snow. i had a jeep cherokee that i lifted in my infinite wisdom...the wonky steering is tough to handle in a snow storm. my next jeep, i left stock. it never got stuck.

Well, I'm back! Sold off the Exploder and got my mom's car, 2005 Mazda6. But not doing anything becauseee.....I shall be getting another Speed3! 
Right now, I'm attending UTI (Universal Technical Institute) in Norwood, MA and after talking with friends and my parents, I have decided to obtain either Black or Cosmic blue MS3 (1st gen. Current gen is fugly!).
So...yeah. I'm just happy to be back in the speed family! Recently test drove a 08.5 MS3 and god I miss it soooooooooo much!!
Any more old-timers here?!

I went to uti in exton pa. Of course i graduated right when the industry went to s*** and i couldnt hold a job at an auto shop. But whatever, good luck on finding an unmolested speed
