I have improved my mileage by adding ACETONE

I have improved mileage by not nailing the throttle. At 160 miles and still well above the half mark. I think I may see 200+. Done it before. It sucks worse gas doing 50+ mph runs at full throttle than at dead starts imo. I wasn't easy on it all the time either and that is with city and highway driving.

I see 200 miles around 5/8ths & that is aggro driving habits with auto & AC & power steering. All of the "discussion" aside, here are a few bits of factual reality that have nothing to do with having acetone in your tank. 1) the gas makers do not want you to get more mpg-they sell less gas, they make less profit. 2) the government is showing concern for appearance sake only about you getting more mpg, they get less money from gas taxes, they get less money from oil industry lobbyists 3) car makers have no interest in you getting more mpg, they only care about you driving the s*** out of your car so they can sell you another one, they aren't going to do anything to make your car last longer-they make less money. Welcome to capitalism, only thing that matters is making money at whoever's expense. Counter it or not...

See, this is my point. What you're saying is not true. We live in a capitalistic society where good ideas are rewarded with $$$. If someone could come up with a car or a fuel that would net better economy, the product would sell like mad. It's not about conspiracies to squelch good ideas. Auto makers are spending billions on alternative fuel cars and hybrids right now. If there was some magic fuel additive that netted better fuel economy as has been proported here in this thread, why would it not be utilized?

Auto makers compete against one another. To a lesser degree, oil companies compete against one another. What I'm hearing in this thread is that they are all conspiring to keep high MPG cars and or fuel down. If one automaker could come up with a 100mpg vehicle, believe me, they would and it would sell very well.

Well if that were true then why isn't there some viable affordable better idea to get us off oil & being dicked with constantly by asshole countries that don't even have cars enough to care playing with the supply. What your saying is still all about the money, roll out the better ideas, I'm all for it.

It's unfortunate, but the middle east has the world's larges supply of cheap, sweet, easy to refine oil. There are no alternatives that can compete in price.... yet. Right now middle east oil is the least expensive form of energy available to the market.

If the price of ME oil were to jump significantly (even more than it has in recent few years), believe me, a whole wealth of alternatives would be coming to market. That's because they could then compete on price.

Or...we could use sand oil...and there will be much regioicing. What is it? 1.something trillion barrels of oil under canada!? Only problem is, it's harder to refine, because basically, it's oil soaked sand, but I guarantee if ME prices keep goin up, there's gonna be some canadians drivin around in silver plated audi's (you know the picture I'm talkin about...) lol

Yeah, lot of talk about Canada's sand oil supply lately. It will be significant one day, but it's going to be a while.

I's almost happening already! The govt. of Alberta sent a cheque of $500 to ALL the province's residents as "oil dividends"!!!! (But they have no plan sharing this with the rest of Canada!)

ya, but like I said, if oil prices keep heading skyward, I think canada may start tapping its resources sooner than later, not just for their sake (lol, imagine all the ppl in border towns crossing the border for gas lmao), but so they can make some coin off of the deal (aka...us...)

They are doing it as we speak! Technology for extracting oil from the sands has vastly impoved. There are billions of $$ being invested. Just Shell is investing more than 12 billion $$ for the next few years on Alberta oil!!!

It has been said in the news lately that Canada's oil supply could exceed Saudi Arabia for the biggest oil producing country, and yet we pay more for gas than all you guys south of the border, go figure.

Tell me about it (I live in Canada as well)!!!!!!

As far as acetone in the tank, I ran through a gallon of it to see if was worth the effort. It wasn't. Tried various amounts with no measurable difference. Since I'm pulling 32-34+ mpg, I'm not too concerned about mileage.

As for the oil sands in Alberta, there was an excellent piece on the subject on "60 Minutes" last night that covered all aspects. Looks like stateside better start treating hosers better or we'll get cut off. OTOH, Bush'll probably invade the Great White North to get the supply.

BTW, the reason you guys up there pay so damned much for fuel is taxes; way higher than ours.

Doesn't the term ***** ape mean he just got his oil changed? Why would a ***** ape need oil changed? How many mpgs do ***** apes get?

i would say a ***** ape gets 40 mpg after drinkin 4oz of red bull acetone!!

Everclear, lets see how that works. Or try some moonshine.

well, it seems that this is one of those debates where no one is actually right and no one is actually wrong. does acetone work? I have no friggen clue......I mean we put alot of s*** in our engines to try to get better performance or better mileage so if this crap works for people them they should use it....and if you dont think it gonna do s*** then dont use it. Thats the great thing about this country we can choose. So with that said...I think i will try a lil acetone and see what happens....

Hell, moonshine might end up workin better than gasoline if anyone ever tried it.

Hey who knew this thread would last that long!!!
