well i just put in a boost gauge on my car and i noticed that im vacuuming at 10 is that really bad?

s/b 20-22, unless you have an SW gauge which read lower around 18 or so. You have something disconnected or leaking. Check and recheck.

sorry for the stupid question but where is the first place to check for a leak b/c i checked to see if it was all connected and everything is fine?

How is the car running otherwise? What boost reading are you getting? Does the gauge center to zero when the engine is turned off? Besides the leak possibility it could also be a bad gauge.

Check all of the clamped connections at the turbo, intercooler, airbox/sri/cai and the throttlebody. Also check where you tapped into and the t-fitting used to do so.

well im boosting 8lbs but im gonna check after work for any possible leaks or loose clamps

check to make sure you dont have a crimp in the vac line comming to the boost gauge.. i had one when i had the auto meter gauge.. read crazy wrong.. fixed it. all was good
