I hate my life! (Car related)

you can always do a very mild drop. H&R or OEM Mazdaspeed3 springs. and they might not even notice. But, saving your money is a very good idea...in this day in age.

Your parents gave you a pretty new Mazda3 to drive @ 18 and you're complaining about "hating your life" because they wont let you mod THEIR car? Seriously? If I was your parents I'd tell you to go pound sand, sell the car, and tell your 18 year old self to buy your own car.

I'm sorry but no sympathy from me. Drive the car around and be happy they let you have it.

This.

Also, trying to convince your parents of something you know isn't true.... wow, you're clearly a responsible honest child who DESERVES to be given a shiney new car.

I'm 26, and my rents are offering to loan me their 1998 subi for like 6 months, which is all beat to hell. I'm super happy about it.

Once you take on a car payment, insurance, and your own set of bills associated with living in an apartment, you'll develop an appreciation for such things in a HURRY, and petty s*** like not being able to lower your car becomes less than trivial.

Look, if you're not paying for the car, it's not yours, so you shouldn't modify/touch it without your parents permission.
Simple as that. If they say no, you shouldn't do it, or prepare to face the consequences, whatever they may be.
If you were paying for the car, ****, you can do whatever you want with it, but it's not yours.

This...

If you want a car you can mod, then give them *their* car back that they are graciously letting you use and buy your own vehicle. I had to buy my first car when I was 16...I bought it from my Dad, for a little less than what he would have been able to sell it privately. It was mine, I could do what I wanted with it - and he actually even helped me work on it - exhaust, little header, etc. It's about personal responsibility, honoring your folks' wishes, and being grateful for the help they're giving you.

agreed, when mommy and daddy buy it theres not much really you can do.
With that being said, save you money and buy a buy another car you can build and mod all you want.

I bought my Civic from my Dad back in 01. I still have it. We had an arrangement where I was paying most of the payment, but he was helping a little too because full time college, paying for college, and a car payment was kinda rough. I definitely appreciated the help. I didn't mod ANYTHING other than the CAI and the CD player I put into it until after I paid that car off, out of respect for the help he was giving me. In my mind, and his, if I could afford to mod the car the way I wanted, I could afford the payment. So true too. Once it was paid off, and everything was free and clear, I modded the s*** out of it. B18C engine swap, etc etc. God... what I wouldn't give for that stock Civic again...

Oh they did. But s*** has a potential to break when you modify a car. Especially when the car now has 197k miles on it. So now I have a car that's in great shape for its age, with a lot more power than it came with, that manages to find something to break every time I drive it... and oh yeah, I can't recoup any of my money if I sell it. It's kinda like my MSM. It's got everything short of internals and a new turbo on it. It breaks s*** left and right. I need a drivetrain brace because guess what... it broke it. I love modding cars, don't get me wrong... but a lot of the time, in the end... it's just not worth it.
