Message Body: I went to get a few things done today. I was informed
that my entire warranty was voided because they had found a boost
controller in my glovebox when they were doing the computer reflash that
I had done under a TCB a few months prior. They refused to do any work
for me, including even my bumper which was sagging, and my rear
suspension bushings, both being documented problems in the past, and
that this wasnt their fault, is was MNOA who voided it. This is just
disrespect on their part, a bumper has absolutely nothing to do with the
powertrain even if it was voided. I am furious that there were people
going though my glovebox when they had absolutely no business anywhere
near it. Also I know my rights regarding the Magnusson-Moss act, and the
fact that said boost controller was not installed, nor was it even mine
for that matter gives me a pretty good case. I will be contacting a
lawyer regarding legal issues of your employees searching through my
personal belongings, and would like to know what your response is
regardin this matter. The person who dealt with me directly was the
Mazda Service Consultant, Erik Rodriguez. Please email me and let me
know if your still going to pursue voiding my warranty, and if not I
would like to know why and have a printout for myself as to the exact
cause and grounds for it termination. I would also like to be redirected
to a dealer that will treat me with the respect I deserve as a customer
of your company. Thank You
and here is what they wrote back:
ear Robert,
Thank you for contacting Mazda North American Operations. I appreciate
the opportunity to respond to you.
In regards to your inquiry, please note that our offices were already
contacted by the District Representative specifically noting that
certain warranty items were to declined for coverage on your vehicle
due to aftermarket modification and damage that has been inspected. The
bumper you mentioned was determined to be damaged by outside
influences. Please remember that your warranty only covers actual
defects in materials or workmanship, NOT those concerns related to
improper use, modification or outside influence damage. If you have
questions about the determinations made, contact the dealership that
inspected them.
Any such related repairs requests have been declined, and we will stand
behind the decision that was relayed to us in advance by the District
Manager who is in place specifically to make those determinations.
Please understand that we must respectfully decline any non-defect
repair coverage, that this matter has been reviewed, will not be
reconsidered and that our decision is final. Any further correspondence
will certainly be documented for our records, but only for such
documentation.
Again, thank you for contacting Mazda. It has been my pleasure to
assist you. Please give us your opinion about our e-mail service. Click
