I got a CEL with just TurboXS RP!

I've put about 750 miles on my car since I got the turboxs racepipe installed.

And today the check engine light went on at 17.5k miles. I was doing alot of spirited driving today, and at the time it went on I was going up a freeway with a car full of friends. Would it have to do with the load? I let my car idle for a long time before I shut it off. And just now its still on when I turn on my car.

Anyway, I've never had a CEL come on, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Gascap is tight too.

um.. heres an idea go get it read! We will only be taking stabs in the dark on this one. It could be related to the RP or it could be something completely different.

Most parts store like autozone or advanced will read the code for free. Go by there first and come back to the forum with the code. DO NOT GO TO A DEALER WITH MODS., they may void your warranty.

I just called up autozone and they said they will scan it for free. Looks like I'm driving down there today. Thanks for the quick responses. I'll let you know what they tell me

Here's what it said:

The PCM has determined that multiple random misfires have occurred.

P0300

Definition: cylinder misfire detected - Random cylinders

Explanation: the powertrain control module monitors the crankshaft speed and has detected a misfire condition.

Probable Causes
1- Ignition system fault-spark plug(s), ignition wires, coil
2- vacuum leak
3- injector fault
4- high or low fuel pressure

-----
Is this a common code? I wonder what it is... I'm gonna take it in sometime this week to the dealer.

I figure just leave the race pipe in. I know my dealer will only get mad if the part caused the CEL. Since I've been told the race pipe wont set off a CEL, I'm gonna leave it on cuz I dont wanna spend money to take out the RP.

I got that same code the day I picked my car up, theres a starting sequence they do to reset that code, I havent had it again since in 6700 miles.

you would pay somebody money to to loosen four bolts, remove a pipe, insert stock pipe, and tighten up four bolts???

spend money to take off the race pipe you say??

you honestly cant uninstall it yourself.

i would highly highly recommend taking it off before seeing the dealer.

YES leave on a RP and your car is gonna loose it's WARRANTY! NO DOUBT, and that's coming from my service guys @ mazda. If you leave it, BEST of LUCK!

I'll take it off after hearing from you guys. I was going to just say they can't prove that the CEL was set off by the RP, so they would have to fix it.

In my situation, I would rather pay someone twenty dollars to take it off than spend an afternoon borrowing tools and finding a way to get under my car.

I'm a college student living in an apartment with no garage. But i'll suck it up and find some way. Better than getting my warranty taken away. (thought)

Technically since that replaces a cat the dealer can refuse to even touch your car with that on there since it is a federal regulation to have it. Best bet is just taking it off for the dealer visit. I dont believe its too tough to take off so if you cant do it yourself then it shouldnt be too hard to find someone who can.

After about 6 days with the CEL on, it mysteriously turned off. My friend said it could be bad gas that went through the system by it being run on low gas.

I'm not gonna take it into the dealer because I think it worked itself out. Is that a good idea? or should I take it in just in case
