I Finnally Did It

I traded in my 04 mazda3i auto for a spankin brand new 2005 SRT-4 5 spd. This car is frigggen fast! I love this car! Big performance diffrence from the mazda. It came with the 6 disk cd changer, power windows and power locks, viper seats and a kicker sound system. Just thought id share. Thanks for all the help guys!

the viper seats are different, very different shape and they say viper, there is also a $2000 or so price difference, although if you want "true" viper seats they will bolt in with no problems

Yep... it's fast. Just be careful in the corners.

Here we go again, you must not autocross. The SRT4 handles fine, and it will - for a fact - outhandle the Mazda 3. My brother has the 3 with Eibachs and some big swaybars and my SRT-4 kicked the crap out of it. I drove both and the SRT had a significant advantage.

The new ACR SRT-4 will likely kill the MSP in all handling tests. The SCCA is considering moving it up to C Stock from the now considered D stock where the SRT-4 routinely runs with or ahead of the MSP. The 3 is in G orH Stock I believe.

I thought it was only the MSP people who lived in this fantasy world.

p.s. Congrats on your purchase. Have fun letting all that torque pull your manual rear windows though those corners. Remember, fast track times come from fast exit speeds... For that you need torque.

What is your build size like? I didn't find the Viper seats very confortable least they wouldn't be during trips.

They surely do hold you in nicely, but my shoulders felts squeezed.

I don't know about the 05's but i test drove an 04 SRT-4, and I'll say this much, the mazda 3 out-handels it anyday. The SRT-4's suspension felt too . . . bouncy going in and out of corners it felt like i want bouncing around. I like the feel of the 3's grip in corners. And, honestly . . . with an LSD and the hiboost kit . . . A mazda 3 will beat the snot out of the SRT-4. How much are the 05's gonig for? I'm guessin they START at 21k prob 22k. So, after juans' kit(4200), put to our 18k, that's 22200. So, you're kinda trading in the looks of the mazda for the warranty of the dodge. Fair trade if you ask me.
I mean, I'll be driving around a car that just looks sexier then a MOFO, but I'll have no warranty on my ride seeing as i boosted it. Now, you on the other hand can feel free to push the limits and hurt whatever parts you want(Just be sure to remember that excessive wear and tear will not be coverd . . ie if you blow a rod or something,a nd they notice that the pistons have been pushed excessivly. . . ) but you'll be driving around a picachoo lookalike.
But, then again that's my .02 nothing special. Just speakin my mind.

SRT4 will of course feel better than a Mazda3i. Major HP difference. Congrads of a good car with great aftermarket, including Factory.

Well a test drive is a lot different than owning one. I routinely drove my brother's 3, and my SRT kicked the crap out of it. For pure driving excitement, the SRT wins hands down. No contest, no question.

Thanx goldwing . . . that's pretty much all i was trying to say. At the end of the day, when the cards are shown, when the sun sets, when the fat lady sing . . . you get the point . . . its still a NEON!
Now, I don't dought that the SRT-4 will beat the snot out of my car, wther it be in drag or streets. Drag : much much much more tq and hp then us and an LSD!!! Now, the ONLY reason I see the SRT-4 beating a mazda 3 in the street is because of its power once again. I think, that if we were to match the same hp and tq with the hiboost kit with a LSD and new tires (SRT-4 gets pretty good ones stock), we would be beating the snot out of them! And, if you're racing your SRT in races or events, you've already lost your warranty anyway.
So, I can see where someone would DEF trade in the 3 for a SRT-4. But, what I can't see is someone trading in their 3 for an SRT-4 AFTER you've heard about the Hiboost kit!!! I mean, how can you deny yourself the pleasure of driving a car that is just soo ******* sexy and beating cars that cost just as much as your did WITH the kit!!!
I took the route of crappy looker but mean MOFO my first 2 cars(GSR and Civic HB) both were salvaged and looked like total crap(Neon). But, boy when i pulled up next to corvettes and wrx's and beat the snot piss out of them . . . there's no word that can explaine the feeling

This time, I'd rather be riding in style.
(On a side note . . . my dad just RAN INTO my 3 S . . . JUST AFTER getting it fixed and painted. . . AGAIN!!!!! )
