I finally did it too!!

Well was a long day yesterday. 1st long cruise with the Miata. Left work at 1 and arrived in Bangor in 4 hours. Car ran great, cruised at 70. Daughters bus was supposed to arrive at 6pm, got stuck at the border for 4 hours because of 1 person and some glitch with the border computer. In the end they took the person off the bus and let them go. Bus got Bangor at 10pm. We had a late dinner, and drove through a storm in Maine then sleet in NH and finally mixed crap in MA. Got home at 4am.

Car ran great the whole time. I was passing cars/SUV's on 95, no issues. Car handled the crap very well. Felt solid on the snow tires the whole time. Got 28 and 30 mpg for the trip. Very happy with the car.

Sounds like u made the best of the situation!

Did she enjoy the ride?

Did some more updates today.

Took the intermittent wiper update that was on the P5 and put it in the Miata. Rear wiper doesn't work but the variable switch works fine.

Also added WebElectric's third brake light pulser.

Had to boost the old P5 today. Battery finally died today. Had to boost her to get her moved today. over 6 years and 157k on the original battery, not bad. Pick one up from Sears tomorrow.

Replaced the battery today. Car starts now.

The Miata is sidelined till tomorrow. Blew the fuse for the stoplights. Autozone does not carry the fuses the Miata uses. Have to wait till tomorrow and get some from the dealer. Sigh.

bruce, you have something else on that circuit??

Not that I have installed.

When the fuse blew the horn and cruise wouldn't work. I got some more fuses from a dealer, they did not have the correct ones put the ones that the earlier Mazda's work fine. Guy gave them to me for free, can't complain.

tried a new fuse and as soon as I step on the brake it blew again. Checked the wiring, no cuts or loose wires. Pulled the unit and put it back to stock, put in a new fuse and works fine now. Horn is working and so are the brake lights. I sent an email to WebElectric and see what they say.

You would think not much to blow fuses. That's crazy. What are they, 15amps?

10 amp fuse for the stop lights. Got an email back from WebElectric, RTM. Used the wrong intructions for the wiring. Will try again tomorrow.

MERRY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!!(band)

Uh....yea....about that.

So did you receive the wrong instructions?

Still not sure. Tried it their way and still shorts out. Pulled it for now and will wait till the weather gets warmer. Tired of freezing my hands.

Went for a nice long drive today. Wasn't warm enough to get the top down but had fun.
