I don't understand this...

I've been reading on here that our FS-DE cannot handle nitrous period. My friend has a 95 Honda Civic DX 1.5 non-vtec and he was able to handle Zex 65 shot DRY KIT with stock everything but a intake and a big rice can! Not even spark plugs! Can I get an understanding why our FS-DE wouldn't be able to handle a 55 shot zex dry kit? Actually, if possible, let me know what I need.

Of course it's possible. If you don't run engine management you risk the possibility of damage, but a 65 shot would not hurt with colder plugs.

Umm, yeah, if you want nitrous, may I suggest bigger injectors, better plugs, and some form of engine management, and a way to control when you inject Nitrous, and also how much, cause you most certainly do not want to be givin'er in higher RPM's. If yo search a bit around here, there are millions of people asking about Nitrous on the FS-DE, trust me, cause I post this in everyone, you need better spark, fuel, and control to run Nitrous properly. And even then with the FS-DE's weak connecting rods, theres a possiblity of bending one over for the ride

pdhaudio83 - was ur car stock when u did the dry kit? and isn't mp3 bad for nitrous since it has advance timing compare to the p5?

jurgs01 - well I only want to run a 50 -55 shot and only when I am at the track which isn't often. what do u think I need?

I currently have:
2003 p5 with auto tranny :(
Intake
mazdaspeed exhaust

Plan on getting:
zex dry kit 50-55 shot
zex purge kit
NGK or w/e plugs are out there that are 2 step colder
air/fuel gauge
nitrous boost gauge
B&M fuel pressure regulator
Headers

Does that sound like I will be ok if I only spray at the track and then continue to drive the car without spraying normally?

sounds like it would be ok if it's only at the track..the only thing that is kinda worrysom, is tha fact that it's kinda hard to control the RPM on an auto. Is is the 'sport shift'? If so, thats a little better...just make sure you aren't putting to much nitrous into the engine at higher RPM, as thats what will most definatly do the engine over...otherwise, sounds to me like it would be ok..wait for some more responses though, as I may not be 100% right.

It will be fine. I'm not saying 100% you are not going to hurt your motor, but if everything is installed correctly and you don't go overboard you should be alright. Hope you're not thinking you are going to put down blazing track times though.

Mine went boom 40 seconds after I tried it. Changed the plugs and everything. It was the Zex kit with the full throtle position. I suggest you spend some money like I should have. I ended up spending 5000$..all for 40 seconds of Fast and Furious!!!!! MP3 + NOS = (blowup)

yes, it is the sport shift which means I can shift out whenever. When u say not boosting up at higher rpm, what rpm do u consider too high? With the zex kit, it sprays when ur at full throttle but with NX and NOS, u have to push the button when u want it to spray right? I am just trying to understand this better because I want to shave off sometime on a quarter mile instead of flat 18.00 and turbo is outta my budget. My friend who installed the dry kit on my friend's civic keeps telling me that there is no problem if I do it in my car because his theory is "if a civic can handle it, ur mazda with new technology should be able to handle it"

Of all things get the wet kit, only spray once your in 3rd gear and above 3k rpms and use the 55 shot -- why risk more than you have to

Pe@ce

maybe I don't quite understand, but why do you need your p5 auto to be fast on the drag strip?

if you truly aren't going to be spraying around town, then why make the investment at all? how often do you go to the track and .... to be blunt, why do you?

I guess I really don't understand your intentions

not trying to crap on your thread, just doesn't make a shred of sense to me

for me, if I can't use it on the street and make my drive more entertaining, why buy it?

please don't take this as an attack (outie)

I think because turbos cost a lot more moolah

<---- Currently living off of ramen noodles.

yea, but for me, if it's not something I can use on the street, it's worthless

and no, I am not expecting like 15's or anything wild for that fact.
Hahaha I never thought of 15's as wild...I guess I'm a WILD AND CRAZY GUY!!! WITH A WICKED FAST CAR ....YEEEEE HAW!!! Now if you'll excuse me...I'm gonna' go get wild with my 14.8 from hell on crack.
I will, however, recommend that you don't put NOS on your auto P5. Just seems a little silly. Do intake, exhaust, suspension mods, and perhaps a fuzzy steering wheel cover.

I've been told that the protege's factory timing is too far advanced for n2o with no engine management. Don't know all the truth to this tho. I have to respectfully disagree with the statement about waiting until 3rd gear tho. I spray off the line in first, I just easy off the line and as soon as that damn needle hits 4K, *pedal to the floor*, all the way up to 8200. As long as you don't spray below ~3500 and DO NOT spray in 5th gear unless you are doin 100+mph, you should be fine.

The torque goes thru the roof at lower rpm's when you spray and that'll win the battle against the rods, even in honda's B-series motors, and those rods can handle some hella power from the factory.

Just my $.02, Good luck!
