I did a mod to my sport shift

Just grab the shift knob and turn left. The initial turn is tight but after that it's pretty easy. The one thing I have to say is that it's never that tight again after you put it back on.

nope, still the stock knob. Like everyone else, I contemplated this same mod. Just haven't done it yet.

dude... some people aren't doing this because they are pretending they have manuals. It's a way we can dress up our cars, too. If you don't understand that, that's fine w/me :)

Of course, if I do this, I'll have to try to find a boot for the parking brake, too hehe

Thats it now you've done it.... All the manual tranny guys/gals are going to have do the parking brake boot mod too. ;) hahahaha...

I feel sorry for Silver Amputee. 1st post ever made here, and he went up in flames.

Welcome to the forum!

Welcome to the forum!

Good point, But I'd still like to see a before and after picture of his mod. If I had an auto and saw this thread I'd be out in the garage figuring out how to do it my self.

Then hell I'd go to an automated carwash just to have the workers try & move my car up, then stand back & laugh.

But I'm warped that way.

So hopefully all the flamers didn't burn him away from here. There is a lot of information that can be learned from this forum, but there a ton of asses that have nothing better to do than think they are better than all and know everything. And if you don't know something then you are less than them. Well everybody has to start from somewhere and begin thier learning curve.

In this thread I think there has been more support for Silver Amputee than flaming.
I hope he/she stays on the forum.

I don't know if you'd wanna do that...

I took mine to a wash like that and the idiot couldn't figure out how to get the car from drive into Neutral. WTF? It's a simple push up from Drive! This is sans-boot, mind you. I had the pleasure of watching the driver's front wheel get lifted about a foot or two up as the car wash's driver wheel went underneath. I guess I got lucky that I didn't get any scrapes on the polished rim out of that.

Needless to say, I will never go to another wash like that again.

like this?i have an 02 p5 though, not the sport shift thing

how do you secure the shift boot to the console?

I'm going to guess it secures the same way the manual does, seeing as it's the same cosole for both tranny types. This probably doesn't help you much, but just my 2cents.

the thing is i dont know how it secures in the manual.

Good old sport shifters don't have an o/d button w00t.

Looks nice, though I'd probably paint everything blue instead of red hehe.
