I decided to finally eat without meat in my diet.

I finally got rid of dairy and meat in my diet, except for seafood, which I will eat on occasion.

I figure I want to stay lean the right way (not the bulls*** high protein diet). I already eat fairly healthy, so this won't take too much to get used to.

Those of you who posted in the "milk" thread will appreciate this. I am getting rid of all those hormones and crap, which can't be a bad thing. Also, the fat intake will go up, but that will be from nuts, seeds, olive oil, etc.

My sister is helping me. She has been a Vegan for 5 years, so she knows all the web sites and recipies.

Today I went to the hippie store (jk, Whole Foods Store) and bought...

Soy Milk (not bad at all)
Tofu - pure tofu and tofu type meat substitute
Hummus ingredients (garbanzo beans, garlic, salt, olive oil, sesame seed butter).

The soy milk is expensive if you are one who guzzles milk, and the tofu will take getting used to by most people.

So, what do you guys think?

I think you're crazy, but then again I could never go without meat. You could have still gone with organic beef instead of completely removing it from your diet.

I feel that is great, as long as you are happy. One thing that people have stated when you change eating patterns. If you crave something, go for it, but be responsible. Otherwise you will eat a lot of other things trying to satisfy your craving.

I personally like a nice rib eye and A1 once in a while. Sounds like you will not be going vegan, which is not too extreme.

Certain dieting changes are tough, so give it time. But when you are on a road trip or out for lunch at work, or with a family get together, you will find it really tough.

Oh, there is Organic Beer out there, check into that. There is some really good stuff out west.

I would be crazy to buy that stuff. Damn it is expensive, so is all the organic fruits and vegetables. I just buy those at Fry's.

I will eat enough fish most likely. I start at Joe's Crab Shack tomorrow, so... (thumb)

good luck man.
I've been training for bike racing next seasons and have bee trying to maintain a 3300 cal/day diet w/o any mean.... ITS HARD!!!!!!!!!!
(i slip and have a turkey burger averynow and then)
but hell Edamame Borritos !!! 1600 cal lunch
2 Whole wheat bagel w/ organic peanut butter, honey and raisins for breakfast (850 cal) and pretty much tuna, rice and peas for dinner(500 cal)!!!!!!!!

thats not completely vegan though!
again don't listen to the fatties out there
be healthy - it's worth it!

that sounds like good s***. don't you practice some type of martial arts or something similiar? I've been considering an overhaul of my diet... it takes serious willpower, or an impeccable attitude. props to you...

There's organic IPA, drink 6 and puke. guaranteed.

you might want to eat meat once in a while... (just a thought)

I could go without meat, but if I had to give up dairy products I would go bull-moose gonzo.

Yeah bro, I actually just got done sparring with my roomate and friend. I do kickboxing.

I will be eating fish and other seafood a few times a week.

I've never been able to eat fish, or any other saefood. (except deep fried shrimp) I also cant barely eat anything green either. (except green beans) it makes for a really weird diet, lol.

The good thing is that I can really handle eating anything. I am not pickey at all. I can eat spinach salads with shredded cabbage and carrots all day.

Sounds tasty, but I wouldn't want to be in an enclosed space with you about an hour after you ate that.

Good job man. I've been Vegan for 8-9 years now and I don't even think much about it anymore. Right now I'm having trouble eating enough calories because I work a 12 hour shift and we don't get that much time to eat, plus I'm trying to save money which means I don't eat as much food. Keep it up man..the first few monthes are the hardest. After that it starts to mello out.

I couldn't survive without meat. My mom tried to do the whole vegetarian thing for a week and although I ate less, that was 1 of the worst things to try in my life. I have to have my red meats. Good luck on that quest man, I'd last like 2 days before I just went to the store and got a nice juicy, tender, melt in your mouth, blood flavored steak.

OK I'm bored .........and crazy!!!!

one of my close friends has been vegan since 93. It was hard at first for him because his family and ALL his friends were not and at 15 you don't have much of a choice sometimes. But he did it still no meat / dairy / animal products. Kinda proud of him.

Cable43 - Do you eat sushi? Edamame is awesome. I always order some before I get my meal. They come salted and IN the pod. I love em.

Real Peanut Butter tastes better in my opinion. I can't eat the "regular" stuff any more.

Kettle Chips are my favorite, the best chips there are, and they are healthy. I never had Terra yet.
