I belive my MSP has the worst trunk rattle on the forums

its weird that this problem is only in the msp and not any of the other protege's...just wanted to mention though that if your dealer isn't helping you out...try going to a different mazda dealer...they still must help and sometimes its just one place that is too lazy to do anything...

GOOD FREAKIN LUCK!!!! My dealer just shook his head and said there was nothing they could do! (this after I wasted 3 hours of my day trying to fix it myelf) I have since given up... which is unlike me. But I really can't let these types of things get to me. On one hand, I'm dishin out a nice chunk of change for this car every month... (so I should be getting more satisfaction) on the other, I have other, more important things to worry about. if I were to invest the time/energy into getting this thing fixed I'd most likely have to sacrifice something in the process. instead... I just turn up the radio. (exactly what Mazda figured I'd do!) bastards!!! I should have waited for the 3... loooks like they put that one together a lot better. next car: anything but an 'economy car'. Hate to say it but... this is what we get for buying one of these things. Obviously the car is great in the performance/handling category... to expect it to equal or even come close to a BMW in terms of NVH is a bit much. (at this point, I'd settle for typical FORD quality inside!!!) oh well... whoever started this thread... on behalf of everyone else who's pissed about these types of issues, thanks for giving us a place to vent!! believe it or not... I feel bettter! (until I have to listen to that god damn rattling later tonight!!!) sometimes you JUST want to hear the engine and not (fill in fav rock band here). oh well.... at least I got out of the army.

I haven't had even a single squeak or rattle from anywhere in the interior at all since they installed the new sub enclosure......I LOVE the quality of the interior of this car......it is the most solid, squeak and rattle free car I've had including Honda's. You wanna hear rattles and squeaks, take a ride in my SRT-4.

Other then the trunk rattle and a slight rattle in my front right door, the car is VERY solid.

The reson the other stock pros don't have a rattle is the panel is not removed at the ports. The back deck cover is removed to put in the sub asmbely . I would be welling to bet all the cars that have this problem came from the northeast or the medwest ports. There all union up there and don't give a dam about quality. but I would like to know. Any way look at the back of the panel next to the glass if you can move it alot it is installed wrong. What you need to do is pull your back seat down and remove the 5 push pins you well be abel to lift up on the panel and at the same time pull back on it.Now push back on the panel and it should go down a litte and the front will drop down . That should fix some of the rattle. You also may whant to check the bolts that hold the sub to the shock tower.Hope this helps.Have a nice day.

THe rattle you refer to is from the box and amp.....i thought i was annoying as hell until i placed a piece of dynamat between the amp and the box.....no joke....it sounds much cleaner....

just wanna say... lots of good advice for literally the ONLY thing I've never truly liked about this car. If any of these things even help a little, my love for this car will explode. you guys rock! I especially like the insgith FUNRS gave about the union people not installing this stuff right... never thought about it like that but it makes sense. If I can't fix this thing myself, I'm going to set aside a day to go to as many dealers as I need to in order to find one that's willing to fix it for me. I want' a solid car damnit!!! LOL s***'s embarrissing!!! later

Why should this be in the audio section????? This "musical threads" nonsense HAS to stop!! Part of me knows there are some valid reasons to do so... and another part of me thinks the mods take it to an extreme... for some weird power trip or something. Bottom line: as it has been stated in this VERY thread, this annoying rattling sound is ONLY coming from the MAZDASPEED PROTEGES (not the P5's or base Proteges) which is, obviously, why the person who started this thread put it in this section!!! I mean come on!!! Let's stop the insanity people!!! I agree, if it had started off in the audio section there'd be no reason to move it either. This is one of those topics that can go in either section. For those, like myself, that subscribe to threads it doesn't make a differnece where you mods throw these puppies... however, there might be some people new to this forum who are, themselves, on the fence as to whether or not to stick around. The constant moving around of borderline threads like this might make it difficult for them to find things... things they were reading a few days ago for example (before it was moved). I may be blowing this out of proportion (I do that a lot) but that may very well frustrate this person to the point that they never come back on. Let's use our head with this stuff. If something's borderline (like this) just leave it where it originally was. If it's clearly in the wrong section, move that mofo!!!
