While I somewhat agree, I think it's mostly irrelevant since the original poster hasn't replied to any of the questions posted by people who actually wanted to help him.

Unless you were somehow retarded enough to ask for any kind of help OTHER than diagnostic, then you have no real grounds for complaints.

Either the oil seals in the turbo, or the rings are shot. Anyhow, I know what that's like as I have blown my motor before. It sux! If anything it will be a learning experience for all involved. I wish I had some magic words to make you feel better, but right now it looks like the only thing that is gonna help you is money. Sorry bro.

Wow!!! Is nobody (but a few of us) happy with their MAZDASPEEDs as they are from the factory?! (ok; I added a K&N filter)

This all goes back to the question I asked before. Does anybody really know how much these engines can take, without upgrading the internals? For the most part, it appears, that nobody gives a damn - they just want more horsepower, whatever the price.

Ok; maybe in Dave's case, his problem had more to do with fuel/air mixture, etc... But; everyone should get my point.

What does it mean when I have same amounts of light blueish and black smoke come out of my exhaust? I think if I am right black is oil, and blue is???? What can be causing this? I have checked all the connections, lines, and turbo, oilpan, and it all appears to be in perfect order, what could be causing this?

How many miles are on the car? The rings may not be fully seated yet. Blue smoke is from burning oil, since it is coming out of your exhaust you can check 2 places to find out.

First you can pull off your intake from the turbo and see if that has oil in it Check near the breather line, that is blowby, if it is near the turbo inlet you have a bad seal.

Also, if you have access to it, pull the Intercooler pipe that connects to the compressor outlet and check for oil, if its wet in there you have a bad seal.

Next place is the exhaust, do a compression check to see if all cylinders are even or low. This will tell you if you have bad rings.

Now if your compression is down then you may have to replace a few internal parts. There is no reason that your car should have blown a ring or piston or rod with such a small amount of power increase. The car is tuned very rich, and I don't beleive that 9psi will be high enough to disturb the A/F ratios, 10:1 is plenty for that boost.

On a side note does our ECU learn :wtf: ? As my idle is okay now at 8-9psi, and barely stalls anymore.

It does learn, but it doesn't reprogram itself, it'll do weird things every once and a while.

I'd get the car on a wideband and a dyno and watch what happens at 9psi to the A/F... if you can trace the timing curve that may help as well to determine if its advanced too much under that boost level.

Is it smoking like this only under boost, or under all driving conditions? Did your exhaust retain the Cats?

Any ways my mazda dealership does not mind if you mod your car. They actually like what I have done. As for the problems they have all went away I see no more smoke, no smell, nothing. It is as if the whole thing never happened.

My actuall car is a 02 Eclipse GT (POS but hey it gets me to where i need to go.) So what some of you are saying is that people should not mod their car? So injen should not make an intake, spool should not work on the car, FM should not do anything, I mean then why have so many of you bought the K&N filter and put it in, is that not a mod? If I have the money to work on my PROJECT car then I am. If you have a problem with that then you could kiss my (butt) .

Hey Dave! I'm glad your MAZDASPEED is okay, now. I was simply asking a question (that was never really answered before). I certainly wasn't trying to be a wiseass. If you have read any of my posts, or threads previously, you know I'm here to have fun, learn, and even sometimes give some advise from any experience I have had (such as the K&N install). I just hope you didn't take what I posted the wrong way.

The JIC Magic Exhaust hooks up after the 2nd cat on regular Proteges. I understand that the Mazdaspeeds have one cat, so I guess it would hook up after that.

Hey, if I were in a better mood that day, I would have been nicer, but I wasn't so you got the brunt of it. If you let people on the web get to you, you have some growing up to do. I could give two s**** about what anyone on this site has to say about me. I'll tell you what I see when I see it, and I told you.

Here is some advice for you. The easiest way to see if you turbo has oil blowing by the seals is to remove the intake tube from your throttle body. Rub your finger around the inside of the intake tube. If there is oil on your finger, your turbo is toast. Theres nothing you can do to fix it besides rebuild it. And here's some more bad news for you. Ball bearing turbos can't be rebuilt. You have to buy a totally new center section. That's going to cost you about a grand for ball bearing.
