Hyundai to take on mercedes, bmw, audi and lexus??

Why are they "taking on" the luxory market when they aren't even competitive with regular car makers. Hell, their cars aren't even competitive with my logs of s***.

Yeah, so? Those that would usually buy BMWs will still buy BMWs, no uppity yuppie wants to be seen in a Hyundai, after all what would people think!!

Besides, what would you buy, an SL600 or a Hyundai Solaros (or whatever other ghey name those koreans come up with)

you really need to watch how you throw around terms like "those koreans"

The car in the article is the XG350 which just a Sonata! I've seen pics on the fullsize RWD car and it looks like a knockoff 3rd gen Infiniti Q45.

starting price is 23,430.....for a hyundai, no thanks..... maybe if it were debadged then it might get some respect

Hate to say it folks, but not all that long ago people were saying all of the same things you guys are saying about Japanese cars. Now, don't get me wrong, I am no fan of any car that has come out of Korea. But, I won't be in the least bit surprised if ten to twenty years down the road if Korean cars garner the same kind of respect that Japanese cars do now.

I have respect for some of their stuff. but mostly their designs.. they have some really nice cars out there from japan.. even a super car too let me find it... but nothing worth while to the US yet.. like i love the Tiburaun. but they need to do a better job on the motor, make the car lighter, and beef up that tranny.. it would be a great car then...

Koreans make Hyundai. I don't know what else he would call them.
I know the hyundai is made in korea but using a term like "those koreans" is just a generalization and if you took out korean and put in any other race it would considered a bad remark I am not saying what he said was wrong or anything like that just saying he should be more careful with the way things are worder they could be taken out of context. I myself am Hald korean and really I make fun of hyundai every day of the week

Actually, the hyundais have gotten ridiculously reliable. Their initial quality for the 2004 model year SURPASSED both Honda and Toyota, which have become the benchmarks of reliable economy. Hyundai is on its way up, and I for one would definitely buy a luxury Hyundai if it was priced right. My friend has 105K on his elantra and has had zero warranty issues, any problems with the car. All he's had is regular maintenance, and the car runs like new. Even I was impressed....
...and it's more than I can say for my P5. (shrug)

If you find it offensive to be called Korean because you ARE a Korean that's really your problem and your problem only. (blah) (blah) (blah) (blah) (blah) (blah) (blah) (blah) (blah) (blah) (blah) (blah) (blah) (blah) (blah) (blah) (blah) (blah)

no I have no problem with what was said I am just saying be careful throwing terms like that around as someone could easily take offense I mean is it no different then him saying Those blacks no ubt people would take much more offense to that now wouldnt they

not a fan of hyundai or kia, but their marketing and sales are proving them to viable companies in the import market...They will never directly compete with Lexus, Infiniti, BMW, MB, etc...

but they are al ready being bought of Taurus', accords, passats, etc hand over foot...

so whether the enthusiast(us) likes them or not, the average working american will continue to buy them, and it looks lik more and more every day...

I dont' know for the states or even the other provinces in Canada, but in Montreal, Hyundais are pretty popular because they are cheap and reliable.

If the new luxury brand of Hyundai is cheaper but offer the same stuff as the other luxury brand, I'm quite confident that it'll do pretty good.

I don't know (because I'm too young) but I think there must have been a lot of people who were criticizing like we are doing now when Toyota and Nissan were releasing their luxury brands (Lexus and Infiniti).
