wow, that sucks. Was the car driveable after that? for a car that was on it's side it looks amazingly good, except for the front bumper of course...

One of the front wheels was toe'd out...maybe a busted axel. Other than that, it seemed like the MSP survived pretty well. Not much coolant leaked, and it started right up.

it's kinda funny, everyone I talk to and tell them that my friend flipped his protege, everyone is like OMFG, how could he not have died?!?!?!?!??! Thpse cars are bombproof++++++++++

DAM!! Looks like everytime another MSP bits the dust, 2 so far. In no time I'll be the last one. Now there only MYE, jrodhotrod and I.. Be careful guys!!!

Aight. We need some guidelines for driving in the ******* mountains. It's common ******* sense but here it is:

1. Don't follow too closely. Leave the other driver room for error and correction. At least 70-80 yards. That's enough room for you to see what's happening and react. There's nothing that says "I am a n00b" more than slamming into your friend's car cause he was drifting and spun out (theoretically speaking of course) ;)

2. Drive at your own pace. You're on a road that you've never driven in your life before and you're keeping up with some kids in a Miata and a silver P5 that drive it nightly. What's wrong with that picture?

3. Respect the road and conditions. There's gravel. There's deer. There's even oil and sand mixed on the roads sometimes. There's leaves. There's FWD. Expect any of those things to **** you up at any given moment.

4. Have fun! We're not out to race anybody or prove anything. We're out to have some fun and control some oversteer.

Whatever happened to the theory of "If they can turn, I can too"? But, followin hella closely is hella sketch, especially if it is understood and known that we aint out to race.

The theory of "If they can turn I can too" doesn't apply if THEY = Miata and I = Protege.

I am sure that if I were following a Protege then that theory would work quite well.

Also, keep in mind that the Miata KEEPS TURNING as opposed to REFUSES TO TURN, in a deep hairpin for example.

HOLY s***! Uber weak! Glad to hear no one got hurt though.

Guess now someone else will know the joys of beating on a rental for a little while.

My suggestion? Get a Trailblazer too, and we'll go four wheelin this weeked!
