It was good to meet some of you again, as well as to meet the others for the first time. I wish I could've grabbed some chow with you afterwards, but I had to get home and get ready to start the work-cycle all over again at 0400hrs tomorrow. I'm pretty amazed at how well the P5's handle, and I think that they do that much better than my car can.

Did anyone get pics of me, spinning out after the corkscrew? Man, that was a RUSH! I love tire smoke. I had an instructor in the car with me, at that time. He works for Flyin' Miata, and he was pretty impressed that I kept us off the walls. He took my car for a drive, and he scared the s*** out of me. I forgot his name, but his driving skills are totally unreal. I didn't think my little 1.6 liter had those abilities.

Cheers,

Terry

the GM Auto Show In Motion was awesome...i got to rev the crap out of a bunch of cars around an autocross-style course...fun cars i raced: saab 95, civic si, saturn ion redline, escalade...even went offroading in the hummer h2...but the best car i redlined was the corvette z06....i was there for 7 hours driving cars or waiting in line, (ran out of time to try the 350z and the tsx) stopped for free lunch in between...i only got yelled at twice for "too aggressive driving" but they didn't say anything when i took a pontiac gto through a couple slight drifts (i can see why its a drift car on D1GP)...not a bad way to spend a saturday without spending any money

What a blast! I now know why people always say to take it to the track. I pushed my P5 so hard that I melted the tires!
lol coming out of turn 3 one time, I felt the rear-end begin to let go. Luckily, I didn't panic, I just carefully countersteered and gave it a little more throttle and the P5 snapped right back into the groove.
One thing that we never experience on Hwy 9 is our tires greasing up from hot surfaces. I think that's what I had happened on turn 3. Oh-well, at least I was able to reel it back in without losing too much time. Lesson Learned.

Terry, That guy is Flyin' Miata.:) He owns the business. His name's Keith and he also took me for a ride in my car. I agree 100% about his skills. lol, right when you think you're fast, along comes this guy to show you what your car can really do! He had my P5 reeling in FDs and s***. Big thumbs up to Keith and Flyin' Miata.
I only wish I could've ridden with him in his Spec Miata. That would have been unreal. (omg)

Now we have to setup a track day for NPOT. Whadda ya guys say? Thunderhill should be easier and cheaper, or we can do buttonwillow also. I'll set it up if you guys can work on a date with me. It's cheaper during the week, or on friday.

Ahhh... If so, then I think I might have met the dude in that white evo before up on 9. He said he did track instruction for the Golden Gate Lotus club and invited me and whoever I regulary drove with out to run trackdays with them.

Does anyone remember the organization for setting up track events? The instructor who was speaking after lunch, for the drivers meeting, plugged his group and said that they have track events at the three tracks (Laguna, Thunderhill, Infineon) up here all the time.
If I can find that info, I'm going to check into the webpage and see what's what.

I'm still picking little bits of molten tire off my rims, and my tires are really worn now. The Sumitomos are friggin great, but I wonder how the car will handle with Azenis, or Pradas...

And one more thing, the seals in my 16yr old brake master cylinder got cooked. Driving over HWY17 is this week is going to be nerve-racking.
Do I go with the 929 MC? or get a stock replacement from Mazdaspeed Motorsports? HMMMM......

for that track, my es100's were phenominal! once they heated up, i was amazed at how well they were gripping. i was pushing the car as hard as i could and they just kept on sticking

I think that most of the non-mazdas were either instructors or friends(like the EVO was) There was a guy in a Ferrari just tearing the place up, and also one of the instructors had(get this) a 914!!
Yeah, the Mits was definately slow. The driver was about 17 years old from the looks of him, and he had a passenger.

Rishie, Count me in! I met a lady who runs a site called track-days.org. Maybe she(Steph) can help us get a good deal on a track day. I'll look into it.

Jimmy, subs were out. ;)
