My Dad & Stepmom moved to Port Charlotte about 4 years ago from Philly. My Dad had just bought his new boat when Charlie came through. He had it all tied off on the davit (sp?) at their dock, but this was his first hurricane and he was freakin' out pretty bad. I was talking with him when the storm hit and he kept saying 'I can't see the boat (he was peaking through the hurricane shutters) - maybe I should go out and check on it...' Me: 'no Dad, that's a good way to end up DEAD.' Then I heard my Stepmom (who is a sweetheart and has lived in FL before) say something to him - I asked him what she said and he replied "She just handed me a manhattan to drink and told me to sit down. That's what insurance is for." 
Luckily his boat came through fine. Only a couple scuffs from the ropes.

yeah, i am in houma, so it wont be a direct hti and we are on the good side, so we expect Catagory 1-2 weather, not 3, but all it has to do is shift 50 miles west.... and yikes....
any adivice on how to protect my car?? its inder a shelter but still able to get hit by winds...

well put it inside of your garage if you have , or put it in a place where are not trees near the car and stuff thats how i do it here .

holy mother of god..... that thing jumped to 145mph and is heading straight for me..... i really want to leave town, i hope my parents come to there sinces...... pray for me, this one is supposed to be a strong cat 4 possible cat 5 when it hits landfall.. i am officially, nervous scared and freaked out...........
