I just wanted to take a quick minute and say Thank You to the creator and members of this site. The quick story is that my wife brought her MSP into her mechanic after there was a significant loss of power and really it was just running bad. They diagnosed the issue as a bad turbo and wanted $2200 for the part and $900 to install it. The part cost brought me here in search of someones used "take off" part when they upgraded to a larger unit and to see how hard it would be to do it myself. I wrench on my 78 "Bandit" TA all the time but boosted cars were somewhat of an enigma to me. After posting the WTB I spent some time reading about possible issues and chronic things with the system and read up on the Waste Gate Actuator issues that seem commonplace.
After taking hers out (kind of a PIA but certainly do-able by anyone with even small mechanical knowledge) I was able to diagnose that in fact the WGA was bad and needed replacement. Well Im happy to say that after $70 and a few more hours of my time her MSP is back in Boost and she is happy. Thanks so much for all that contributed I will take a small amount of that $ saved and send it back to the forum... Cheers from Colorado!!
