Do you mean it doesn't show up sometimes but then it will show up?
Sounds like a battery problem.

I have a '17 CX5. Absolutely no problem with my HUD.

Was OP describing a problem he/she has?
Did not see the "?" mark.

Had the HUD disappear once.
Looked in the owners manual- no help there.
I pulled over, turned the car off. When I re-started it came back and has been OK since.

My HUD is hardly visible when I wear a polarized sunglasses.

Yes, on the windshield. I checked the top of the dash but nothing was obstructing the lens. It just wasn’t there. By shutting the car down, it must’ve reset.
My sunglasses don’t seem to make any difference at all.
