Ok guys ... I have already sent this to our audio God 1sty in a PM, but I wanted to get some opinions from others too.

Please help out if possible ... I have been w/o music for awhile now.

Here goes:

I have a situation and I need your advice if you are willing to help. I'll break it down for ya ... my car was robbed and my Z828, CD's, radar, 7 in monitor, PS2, v12 amp and subs were taken. now I have a big gaping hole in my dask and no music while I wait for the insurance $ to arrive (fingers crossed)

I decided to put an old Kenwood HU in while I wait. I picked up a harness and wired it to the kenwood harness. Everything worked fine for days ... I then decided to put my stock Kenwood sub back in the car. I simply connected the stock RCA's to the rear preouts on the deck and connected the stock harness and RCA's (for the sub in the trunk)

I then realized I was not getting power so I checked my grounds and the factory remote wire. I noticed the blue remote wire in the dash was not connected to the harness.

I tested the remote wire w/ a 12vlt source and I got signal, sub worked for a min or so. Then my deck cut out ... no lights on the faceplate, no sound.

I removed the HU and checked for any loose wires, bad connection. Nothing.

Then I removed the RCA's and attempted to re-connect JUST my HU to verify that it still works but it did not.

I check the fuse of the back of the HU and it was not blown. I am getting a 12vlt power source from the harness because the dummy alarm light blinks red when the face plate is removed and I am able to insert and eject CD's.

I cant figure out why my HU is getting power but the faceplate is dead and I'm not getting anything to work with.

I connected another kenwood HU I had laying around and I was able to hear the HU load up, I was able to eject a disc on this one too. Still no lights on the faceplate. Same situation, just diff HU

What now? What is the best way to diagnose this? where should I connect the remote wire to? how is it possible for my HU to function w/ power but not give my lights on my faceplate? I have also tried to reset each HU, but it did not make a difference.

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Greg

Sounds to me like youve got your constant power connected, but not the switched. From my experience, if you have the constant (yellow) wire connected, you can eject cds and such, but the faceplate wont function. Make sure you have your switched (red usually) wire connected throughout and test that lead. I may be way off here, but just my $0.02- Good luck!
