HowTo: FIC

How is the car running? Have you translated the ECU pin and Function in your write up.

The car is running perfect now. Got a appointment on this thursday to get it tune. I didn't translate it now (too busy at the job right now) but will do it As soon I can !

Perfect, I am very interested in getting this unit.

Update : everything is now translate + add more info to how connect the resistance

I did a basic map (With the Kelly2 map, from the SSAFC, as a basic map). I tune only the MAF table.
Everything was fine, able to tune the AFR pretty well.

1. Don't forget, the clamp will modify the MAF signal, even if the MAF table is set to 0. That mean if the Voltage of the MAF go at 4.8 V, the FIC will show 4.7 to the ECU. I had to tune the fuel map to increase the injector after 5000 RPM, under high-boost. Without that I was running 14.1 AFR at 6500. This is why Wideband is so much important.

2. Went on the dyno : Only has 180 WHP. Why ? When modifying the MAF table, the engine see less load. So he ''advance'' the timing (don't know the right word for this). The engine start to knock, so the ECU retarded the timing of like 15 degree to stop the knock. So his is why I had like 183 Wheel torque at 3000 RPM, then falls of to 100, then goes back at 6000.

I'll suggest you to tune the Fuel map instead of the MAF map. If you need to tune MAF, pull some timing to make sure the engine don`t knock

3. As the software info, my injector are now at 94% duty. Is it normal with my mods?

CAI, HardPipe, FMIC, Blowoff, TBE, stock turbo, 10 psi.
Should I upgrade to 440's?

Did you tune using the 02 sensor ? Or did you disconnect it like XOX1de did.

You need to clamp the 02 sensor bro. And to be honest, you should save "write-ups" for when you have your car actually dialed in properly. Tuning is not a wham bam DIY job, and if treated that way, well, we've all seen the results of bad tunes. Everyone appreciates the input on the FIC, but still, I have yet to see anyone get it right, with consistent results on this forum. I'll be honest, I'm a newb at tuning (used to just sending out stock ECU to be tuned, Nissans) , and I'm waiting for a all inclusive write-up for this unit so I can try it. So far I've seen nothing that promising on here.

fair enough but you clamp it in the program so the ecu doesnt use it for its tune and even if it tried the fic is saying no this is what your going to be running on the ecu( the split second does it the same way). Granted I haven't had this install in along time but my car is still running great. Tunning it can be alittle difficult but just watch the videos a couple times and you start to get a hold of it.

Yea, I know you clamp it within the FIC program. Watching a vid won't help me any, trust me. Like I said, when someone does a real write-up, I'll consider trying this out, otherwise, I'm not into guess work when it comes to tuning, it's too easy to F*** things up badly. I need screen shots, MSP specific set-up instructions, etc... I'm really getting lame, and just looking to drive a car, not constantly mess with it.

One other question, why did you only hook up the MAF and ground wire ? That's like two out of 15 wires that need to be used....

I figured it out re reading this post. He is using it strictly as a fcd I don't see any tuning quailtys in this nor do i see a proper way to hook it up. Does anyone remember how much r&d dsmconvert put into the ssafc? Most don't because you were not here or didn't own one of these vehicles yet. All I know for sure is that this product yes you may have to tune it a little but it works correctly with no b/s.

what! theres like 15 wires hooked up read the wiring diagram I have on my other post it pretty much wires up like the s.s ftc. Yes the s.s is a great product I had one before the fic. I've done timing and tuned the afr's on the car and it holds the tune. When I get a pro. tune on it Ill put the map on here.

I was saying that the other guy had only two wires hooked up. I'm still leaning toward the SS unit, if somebody has one at a reasonable price that is... Can the SS unit add fuel at idle ? Can either unit raise the idle RPM ?

yea the s.s can add fuel at idle. I'm not sure if the s.s can raise idle but the fic can by changeing the maf output voltage.
