ms3 or any 4 cylynder gets 20-28 on gas,sum can reach 40mpg(corolla and old civic hatches);), most v8 is 15-22 average....

v8=gas guzzler :)

Yes, we know some 4cyls can get 40 mpg

But performance 4 cyls (STI, EVO, MS3 etc) don't do that much better than V8's and even less so if the V8 has cylinder deactivation.

there is a price to pay for boost. And that price is fuel economy. Your 4cyl MS3 is a gas guzzler compared to a 4 cyl toyota corolla. Thats the point thats being made.

well, thats if ur talking bout city milege, highway milege *cough* is a different story ;)

face it, 4cylinder ftw,v8 are waste of cylinders :)
the v8 should do better on the highway than a 4 cylinder because it can cruise at like 1800rpm because of the torque and shut down 4 of its cylinders.

a 6.0L v8 - 4 cylinders = strangely shaped 3.0L v4

i cruise at around 3500rpm on the highway. there's a difference of about 4mpg from city to highway for me because of lack of boost.

Long version or short?

My wife and I found out we were having a baby, and we've got dogs, and needed something that could carry both at once. We needed something I could trade my 6-month-old MS6 in for, complete with the $10k in negative on it. She was working at a Chevy dealership at the time, and they got a bunch of cheap cars/trucks from a dealership that had been shut down. Combined with my GM employee discount, it was cheap enough to finance the extra $10k. It's very nice (MSRP of $38k), and I drove it for a few days before deciding I could live with it. After a few months, the schoolbus driving dynamics and gas guzzling is getting very old, though.

Well Congrats on the Baby! Why did you have to trade your car in? What does the Wife drive? They did not have something else that would have been more sporting? No Tailblazer SS? I understand why you did it. I was wondering why. Did you buy or lease?

My Altima with the almighty VQ35 gets 26 to 28 hwy. That is better then all of these.

Sometimes I hate living in Canada....the STI & Evo will be $50,000 ish and the G8 probably $40,000.

Of course I could go across the border to buy one. Except now the canadian government is making it illegal to buy certain cars from the US.

Thanks! He should be here in a few weeks now. I needed something that I could put a baby seat in back of and put the dogs behind that. Sticking my dogs (I have 7 of them, ranging from <4 lbs-85 lbs) in the back seat wasn't really an option. The wife's got an Impala (free work car) so that's a no go.

Trailblazer SS didn't have the discounts to make the negative disappear, and at the end of the day, it's still a Trailblazer, one of the worst vehicles ever made.

It's a lease, so I'm going to try to get somebody to take over the lease so I can get out of it. I'd like to wait a year to grab any one of the millions of new models coming out, but we'll see what happens. I may just pick up something used for cheap now and get out of it when I decide on something else.

That is an awesome find. Maybe we should do a sticky thread so people can look up their fuel mileage.

The Altima gets 17 city 24 hwy. When I do my math I mostly average 26 to 28.

Oh, I've known about that site for some time. I just get off on finding things on there and kbb.com that aren't public knowledge yet. I'm the only person I know that's excited to find the Jetta Sportwagen mileage on there.

On topic: Is anyone else amazed that the Evo is getting destroyed here?

No at all. Its overpriced and lost some of its raw character. The other cars are far more appealing though I'd take the evo over othe bimmer just cuz I think the 1 series is pug-ugly despite its smooth motor.
