i work at a mazda dealership and on my way to work today my car ran fine, but when i left i noticed something was definately wrong. the turbo wont boost in 1st and then 2nd and 3rd spool up really slow and dont reach full boost. im gonna have the techs check it out tomorrow but any ideas for now.

I say leak or wastegate too. When my actuator went I was hearing a metallic rattle at exactly 1800 RPMS do you hear anything different?

check your intercooler piping, it may be off just a bit. drove me nuts one time trying to figure out what was wrong

i get that sound...what is it? how can i fix it? i have no clue what it is please help..thanks -dan

If its the same sound as I described it was my wastegate actuator. It was very annoying and it would really piss me off in garages and things. Almost sounds like change pooring on to somehting. I took it in and they replaced the whole turbo since we have an internal wastegate. I had no performance issue thought just that noise. The car boosted and held boost perfectly. It looks like oyu could uninstall your mods and take it in. Trust me its worth it if they replace your turbo rather than long term issues with it. Let me know if you need more info.

I hear a strange "inhaling-like" sound... happens when my turbo vaccums (around 20 In-Hg)... are you guys are talking about this? After reading this thread I got worried a bit. Any danger for the engine if my wastegate is leaking?

sorry havent checked back in a while i guess when you work at the dealership you are last in line for service. still havent checked out the car, f***kers. but i ran out the gas i had in the tank and changed back to my normal station (i was in a bind at the time) the car will boost now but not as quick and doesnt seem to make the power it used to and i cant hear it spool as loudly any more.
