How to Switch of the Audio

:
2019 CX5 GT-R
Hello All
In CX5 i see a mute button, other than that anyway to switch off the audio (CD/USD/Radio playing).
Say i was playing a CD and then switched to navigation and pressed the mute button. does that mean CD player is still running and only volume is suppressed ?

Please advice,

In that case I believe the CD is still playing. Easy to check. Start a CD, switch to Nav, wait a few minutes and un-mute. See if the CD has advanced to the next track.
My understanding is that mute just cancels the sound, everything else continues.

Any idea how to stop the audio ?

You can't. Apparently that's the way the system was designed. When I first acquired my CX-5 I too looked for an on/off button for the audio system. Over the last year I've gotten used to it and just switch to FM, mute the audio then turn the car off.

My car has a CD player?

Yes, slide it into the slot above the screen. And to eject the disc push the EJECT button on the upper left.

Anyone else think Mazda for got a stop a button? Seriously this is ridiculous. I thought I was crazy and just couldn't find the stop button because this is by far the most complex car I've owned. So if you ever have a cd or MP3 player playing you have to switch to AM/FM to get the player to stop then mute. Wtf Mazda?!?

On the 2016.5 Touring controls for audio, there is a Pause, Fast Forward, and Back control on the screen. Use the joystick to select it.
