How to safely remove blue screen in brake master cylinder?

Does anyone know how to safely remove the blue screen in the brake master cylinder? I need to test the brake fluid and eventually bleed the system.

And be careful as the brake fluid is corrosive to the paint!

You can also try a pair of needle nose pliers to grip and pull up. No point in that screen. It only stops you from sticking your clear suction tube down the resovoir. I think we all know to use a fresh new bottle of fluid when doing a flush. There is nothing to filter. If you have a bottle with chunks in it then you have other problems.
