Im interested in taking off the cross sections on my roof rack but am unsure on how to do it. Ive seen that people have removed some of theirs so any insight would be helpfull
It's just a couple screws. Not too hard. Your car should have come with some extra pieces to cover up the gaps, and there should have been instructions on how to take it off, with it.
Mitch...it just depends....we will assume you are in the U.S. and go from there..
FIRST...you could try looking in your owners manual....IF you have one of the newer manuals you got a few pages in there that tells you how to adjust it....and all you have to do to remove it is take out the screws it tells you to loosen up to move it back and forth.....
BUT just in case you dont' have that version of the manual....and seeing as how you haven't had any luck useing the SEARCH feature of the board....check out this thread....it will give you all the information you need...including pics of the pages of MY manual that I was speaking of.
THE CROSSBARS ARE VERY EASY TO REMOVE.NOW ON MY P5 I REMOVED THE COMPLETE ROOF RACK WHICH INVOLVES LOWERING THE HEADLINER AND UNBOLTING THE RACK.I PURCHASED THE MOLDINGS FROM A LOCAL DEALERSHIP.IT GIVES THE P5 A MUCH CLEANER LOOK
I remember reading a very nice detailed webpage about the procedure. Seems like I remeber it took 2 days to get everything done. You have to completely remove the headliner and unbolt the roof rack channels from the inside. Then bolt on the channels without the rack that you get from the dealer. I will see if I can find the url. If anyone has it please post it.
