I like having the switch and I figured most people would too. But it's not necessary if you just want to pop the trunk from your remote. If the reason you're not sure about the switch is not wanting a switch that looks out of place in your car, you could temporarily install (not actually mounting to the car) some cheap switch from like Advance Auto Parts. Just for when you're mounting the actuator to test its functon and to make adjustments to the rod if you need to. Run a fused wire from the battery + to the switch and a + wire from the switch to the + wire on the actuator. Then you could take out the switch when it's working right. The wiring for the switch isn't on the diagram so you could just follow it. If you're not mounting a switch, you're not running wire to the back of the car and you wouldn't need to remove many interior pieces. I guess just the rear deck would have to come out. You could always add the switch later if you wanted.
