how to get 300 whp

oh no

I know its completely possible
its just not cheap

I mean, god knows how much $$$ Rojer Foo put into his p5

I would love to see a car like this, mostly because it would kill just about anything on the road,

guys that say, "buy a new car", I dont think they really understand the enjoyment we get out of working on our cars, the feeling that you have achieved somthing, every time I do something to my car, I always take it out for a drive afterwords, it makes me feel proud, because I did it, its my time and effort

I'm sure linux when you finish putting your car back together, you will probably apply some 12lbs of wax after washing it from front to back, and back again, and then take it out and drive untill the wee hours of the morning, and you will have the biggest damn smile on your face, you will be the happiest man in the world

its not about the money, its about knowing that there is apart of yourself in the car, that YOU and you alone made that car what it is

when people ask me how much I have spent on all of my speakers, I tell them I dont remember, because I honistly dont care, then they ask why, and I usualy say Why not, or just because I can

if you seriously want to do this, all the power to you, just make some videos and take alot of pictures, I want to see it kill a Corvette, I want to see some redneck in a camero s*** his pants when you kick his ass

and you can also make money back with a car like this, go upto a track, challenge a guy to a race, some cocky mother ****** with a reasonbly fast looking car, bet him like $100
loose
then bet him tripple or nothing that you can get him a second time
then MOP THE FLOOR WITH HIS SORRY ASS

so yeah, if your serious, I'm with you all the way and I wish you the best of luck

WHAT ? theres no tears coming from my eyes:'(

top fuel drag engine
about 5000hp
but its only good for a 1/2 mile before you need to rebuild it

actually........a top fuel engine is closer to 7,000 hp - but nobody really knows for sure.

I'm currently in talks with Eckberg Motor Builders. They been around since 1939. Here is some of what they do:
Late model E.F.I. to 8 second pro-street
We can build it
Superchargers - Turbochargers - N.O.S.
We have the knowledge to keep you ahead

Does a 2.8L Chevy S-10 that can beat a 5.0L Mustang sound good enough for you?

Or how about a 5.0L Mustang with NO N.O.S., blower or turbocharger that can beat a typical 502 Supercharged Chevelle?

Eckberg has built these, let us build one for you

:D

i remember seeing a v8 focus at a car show once...... i wonder if there would be in anyway possible to slam an 8 in a p5?????

huh maybe im just not think today......

northstar V8 is made for front wheel drive

I would like to see a B18 more than anything else though
mmmm two rotor

hey man go for it, are you going NA or boosted?
bore and stroke the engine to 2.2liters

Welp, I talked to Brian at Eckberg, he said that rebuilding a foreign engine that is so new is VERY expensive. We're currently looking at turbo applications and running at a LARGE amount of boost (15psi+) I'll let you all know what we figure out.

two rotor? 13B...not B18.

Keep us updated and don't mind those who post "get another car"...that is not what he is asking is it???

What would they say back in '96 if you said...someday Hondas will be going 8's down the 1/4 mile...everyone except the hardcore people would have laughed in your face and told you to go with another car...few years later...no one is laughing.

I went down to talk to Russ, heres what we came up with....

No one has pistons on the shelf for a 15 PSI boost engine so we are into custom made pistons to the tune of $200 each.
Same thing for the rods at $400 each.
To keep the incoming air charge at a usable temperature we will need an air-to-air intercooler which is also custom made for at least $1000, or you could run 120 octane racing fuel at $4.50 per gallon. My entire stock fuel system will be entirely inadequate so we will have to replace with racing quality parts the whole entire system; lines, fuel pump, regulator, fuel tank, etceteras. Now we will have to get a custom ECU and programmed on a chassis dynamometer (minimum charge is $600) to keep tract of all the variables like spark, spark advance, fuel curve, idle strategy, etc. to keep this expensive engine from self-distructing. Now toss in a couple of grand for machining and building the engine. More money for custom gaskets because stock head gaskets barely tolerate 5 PSI boost. Don't forget the installation for all this stuff and the engine. Sorry, we can't do the installation because it is a violation of Federal Clean Air Rules.

We are looking at least $15,000.
( which i do have...)

Lets not forget about how to get 300hp to the pavement...ie transmission needs a little beefing up. It is possible but damn its going to be a little while before I win the lottery and post my how-to on this.

what ?
for 15000 ill build you 4 motors to handle 300hp

that does sound expensive. Wont the JE pistons and Pauter rods hold 15psi with no problem. Tranny work is a must.

I agree 15000 dollars is alot of money for a rebuild. But, if you are not a do it yourselfer then money makes the world go around. I think if you purchase from JE and Pauter, rods and pistons. Find a engine shop that will do your head, port and polish at the same time have them do pistons and rods. While putting the engine back together they can put in new cams proven MSP or custom cut. Whatever your taste, then they can put the your adjustable cam gears in while they are at it. I imagine that might run you 5000-7500 installed at a shop. Ok after starting this post and thinking it through. I see where they get there price because the ECU is trashed at this point with a completely custom engine with a turbo system running another 3400 or better. With engine management and fuel requirements. Then we are not even to tuning and dyno costs. 15,000 complete is a good price if all you have to do is drop off your car and come back and pick it up, especially if it will run off of regular high grade fuel from your average street gas pump. With that said here's how I feel.

I might think the 15,000 would be good if half the fun wasn't building and learning about the car. Simply said I believe if I dropped my car off at a shop and picked it up with 200hp more than it started with. Honestly, I would blow it up in about the first hour at the track. I believe if you have to work for it, you will respect just that much more. Sorry for the rant but my head was exploding after reading this post. I will shut up now.

Just my opinion.

i can see where you are coming from, but ya i could build part of it, but when it comes to the ecu, if there is ONE **** up, boom- that whole new engine i just built- OUT THE WINDOW :)

ya know?
