How to change front brake pads

Nice write-up! I used these same pads on my G35 a while back. The OE pads left so much brake dust that you could never keep the wheels clean. I was impressed with the ceramic pads both in the stopping power and the lack of dust.

Wanted to provide an update. After 13 months/22,000 miles, the brakes started squealing. Bad news: the pads on both sides had worn down. Good news: AutoZone warranty meant the replacement pads were free. My wife has driven the same route to work for 14 years, and this is the fastest she has ever worn the pads down. Despite them being free, I am not sure I can recommend AutoZone ceramic brake pads. I would be curious on what others think of these pads.

Wow that is kinda quick, but it really could be due to increasing traffic patterns, as the DC/VA/MD/PA area has had an uptick in traffic due to the BRAC realignment, and I hear Dallas/Ft. Worth has had an uptick due to the influx of people trying to find land and house deals in that area.

I like your write up... for not even being mechanically inclined you exert your knowledge well :).

Thanks for this info. First time poster and first CX-9 brake job. Simple and easy for someone who wants to save money. Great forums. Dave

My pad did not come with clips

Hey all, my Wagner Pads did not come with clips. Does any one know if they have to be replaced? Thanks

Disc Brake Hardware Kit

I found that a disc brake hardware kit is available. It comes with clips, wear sensors and new rubber boots. The part number is 13474Q for the front brakes. Also I found the torque specs in the Wagner Parts listing book that the parts guy at O'Reilly Auto Parts let me look at when I was trying to figure out what pads to get.
Caliper to bracket: Front 61 - 68. Rear 16 - 23.
Bracket or caliper to knuckle: Front 79 - 93. Rear 58 - 75.
Wheel nut torque: 80 - 108

Hoping someone can help: I just changed the front brake pads, and not get a clicking/scrapping noise on the front left tire. Its not constant, but seems to be on revolution. I can hear it when turning, and slowing down with the windows open. Anyone change brake pads and have this issue. Was not making the noise before. i can try and take a video to post later if that would help.

One other tip. It appears from the pics that the front wheel was straight forward the whole time. It is generally easier, in my experience to to turn the wheel fully in the appropriate direction to get better access to back side of the caliper.
