How often to replace manual tranny fluid?

Wow so the plug on the side is the fill hole? Hm not sure how I'd get the oil to get in there and stay in there, wouldnt it come out? Why couldnt they just put it on top, would have been so much easier...

So bullshark, I looked at the tranny today and I dont think the blue square you have on your pic is the fill plug or the purple one the drain plug. The purple one is too small to be a drain plug, its just a bolt. I think the blue one is both the drain and the fill... somehow. Unless there are others I dont see on there...

The drain plug is on the bottom. I'm not sure if I can see it in the pic, but it's the same size as the fill plug.

+2, make sure you loosen the top plug first, so you know you can refill. everybody has their own preference of oils. i used 2 qts redline mt 90 and 1 qt lucas oil treatment. don't know if it's the best, but better than old oil. if you do a search on here, theres a lotta threads on trans oil change and a couple with pics.everybody will tell you what they used. that's how i did it. a lotta reading tho
