How much whp will boltons get you?

My quote button has dissapeared so ehre goes...

If by bolt-ons you are referring to intake/header/exhaust, underdrive pulley, spark plug wires, etc. then you're looking at around 110 whp max. with the right choice in parts, but that's about as far as you will go. With an MP3 ECU you might even get as far as 120 whp but even that's pushing it.

My MP3 had the following mods....

AEM Short Ram Intake
Sparkco Plug Wires
2.5" Hydro Bent Cat-Back Exhaust
TB Coolant Bypass
AWR A/T F & R Motor Mounts

and it pulled 116.7whp and 122.6ft/lbs on a dynojet so i think 130-140 with more mods such as header, test pipe, mandrel bent exhaust, and underdrive pulleys would be obtainable, then if you wanted to get into some mods such as swapping a mp3 intake mani and porting it out, adjustable cam gears and some sort of engine management im sure u could see 150whp easy. the adjustable cam gears and engine management would net your largest gains.

im installing my protegegarage manifold and my splitsecond afc next week when i get back from college. ill let you know how much of a gain ill feel.

btw- fidanza flywheel is a sick upgrade. the car pulls hard!

<_< isnt he selling those?

Yes, he is. Hence the reference to him. (drunk)

As to the flywheel, does this allow the car to rev quicker? And, do all the pullies help as well?

since the flywheel reduces the rotating mass off the engine, it revs up much quicker, so youll gain some lower end torque back that you lose with the header. in combination with an underdrive pulley, its the perfect combination. however, its not serious gains, just a more even powerband, as well as movement of the powerband. pulleys reduce the rotating mass as well, because they are lighter weight, thus freeing up some lost horsepower.

just because the horsepower does not show up on the dyno, does not mean that it doesnt do anything.

you go through your gears dramatically quicker, therefore having faster 0-60's and 1/4 miles.

the cars do not produce that much power, but with the right stuff, there not that bad in the 1/4 mile and they are great on the auto x. dyno's are dumb, there only good for tuning. to see what you had before, then with a tune you can see if the car improved or not. the numbers do not really matter. they all show you different numbers anyway.

these cars are not as slow as people think. there slow STOCK, but not that bad with the right parts. i dont think auto's are worth hooking up though.
