How much lower will prices go?

I know that none of us have a crystal ball, but how much lower do you think we can expect to see prices drop on the 06's?

I am having a hard time deciding if I should purchase now, or wait until after January 1st. Will I have more bargaining leverage, since I would be purchasing a car that has already depreciated by one full year?

Pleae feel free to chime in.

was quoted 21800 for a sport in Oct. This is the kind of car I want to lease because I would want no part of a turbo after the warranty is up. I still have 2 months left on my current lease but if I buy a new car, this is my first choice. I'm going for $8k off the MSRP or no deal. Reason I'm so stubborn is because I love german cars but for this price, its hard to pass on this car.

I think it all depends on how long it takes to unload the remaining 06 models. Remember, the price is dropping because the car has depreciated already, and it means that the car will plummet the moment you drive it off the lot. This is why the deals are so great. Those who wait simply save because they are buying a car that's become a year old in the market the moment you drive it off the lot. By January, the deals might get a bit better, because the car will depreciate more. My guess is that this car will be like the RX8, in the fact that due to the low demand, the depreciation is fast. For someone who plans on keeping car a long time, the deals work out great.

For those who swap cars often like I have in the past, it doesn't work out. I'm gonna be keeping my car until the warranty is gone, then likely trade it in, unless it gives me 0 problems after 50k miles, and doesn't have to go to delaership for problems or repairs. The reliability jury is still out on this car, so we shall see how it holds up.

Unfortunately, these great deals mean the car will lose it's value faster then those buying cars such as a Legacy GT, or an STI, so without keeping car at least 4-5 years, you really don't benefit all that much from these incentives. I paid $29000 for my 04 STI, and put 28k miles on it, and got $23000 for it on trade in. I also got the Speed 6 Sport for $24500 on a lease buyout option in the summer at 5.02% interest. For that time, it was a fabulous deal, but I know I will lose a lot more money on this car because the market value is far lower, so I'm keeping it. :)

i myself could not give one whodanickel about resale value so i plan on picking one up in 06 for super cheap. i was offered a deal on a loaded GT for 24,995 new.

Yea 2 speed6s in Grayslake. When you going 2 pull the trigger?thats a great deal, bet you can do a little better. Got my sport for $23,500 in June.

We all know buying a speed6 is not a good investment. If people don't want them new, noones gonna buy them used. You really have to love this car and just keep it. For 21k (sport) you cannot find another car out there with the performance and features. There are quite a few 06's still even with the 07's rolling on the lot. Its winter time on the east coast soon and I'm sure you may not get the color you want but you should beable to get a great deal. The incentives on the MPV are 4500 so I'm sure the speed6 will get there next month or january. (shocked)

If I buy one, I do plan on holding onto it for quite sometime (If it holds up), so I'm not too concerned in the resale value. I'm just wondering if I wait until after the 1st of the year, will I have more bargaining leverage. I know that the car already depreciated a full year the moment the 07's rolled onto the lots. I am also wondering if Mazda will up the incentives on them?

i never really view an auto purchase as an 'investment' :(

I never did either until I bought my 04 STI. I guess I had my one shining moment. I had that car over 2 years, put 28k miles on her (drove it very hard as well), never did anything but change oil, and it only cost me $6000, and that was trading it in, not re-selling it. I could have gotten $25k for it privately. Best $6000 I ever spent in my life. I got well more then my money's worth on that fast machine. :)The demand is so high for that car used, it's ridiculous. That is why I own a Speed 6. I couldn't pass up the offer. However, I'm now gonna have to keep this car, because I used up my one trump card. No regrets, unless this car turns out to be unreliable. I just have to hope this Speed 6 is as good as my STI was. I swear that car would have gone over 100k miles without any problems. Subaru builds some very solid machines. I hope Mazda is just as durable. :)

Lets see when the incentives change after 11/24. Can possibly goto 4000-4500 rebate.
I believe the next inventive offers will not come out until Dec 1st, so looks like wait an extra week or so to find out.

hope theres going to be speeds left after the price drops! they dropped the price on like 4 speeds at the dealer by like 3k alone. was like 25k now like 23? or 22 forgot. but that was like 2 weeks ago, i havnt gone back to see if they were still there.

Just picked up my brand new Mazdaspeed6 sport this Friday. I am so exhited, I love it!!!

Just for reference, I will include the price of the GT which I didnt buy.

Sport model $22,XXX sticker price after all rebates. I didnt bring the number with me, but thats very close.

GT model (no nav) $24,426 sticker, I had that written down next to my desk.

Thats a great price considering I was looking at the Speed3 and the sport model of the Speed3 was more expensive than the sport Speed6.

Where did you purchase it from (city/state)?

I purchased the vehicle in Cincinnati, OH.

Here is a link to their "electronic newspaper" add. The Speed6 is located in the lower right hand corner.

Link to Kings Mazda

They had about ... 5-6 '06 Gt's - titanium, black, red ...

Maybe 1 or 2 '07's

and 1 '06 sport in cherry mica. I almost got that, but I just didnt think I could rock the purple. The mica in the purple was really impressive though.

Happy Hunting!(first)

It must be a Subaru thing. My one shining moment was a Subaru Outback Sport, 2003. Basically an Impreza. Bought it used for $13K, drove it for a year, and when the Saab 9-2X's came out, sold the car for $13K and got the Saab.

I think the Subarus, especially the Japanese-built ones (STI, Impreza and Forester), hold their value really well.
