mp5jeff said:3whp? don't expect much more then that, and don't go by manufacturer dynos either.
AzMz3 said:Actually the AEM has a 4whp gain all across the powerband and the peaks being 6.5HP and 10TQ. Why would you not go by some of the manufacturers dyno, the AEM was tested and designed on a members of another Mazda forum.
Well worth it to get a CAI.

Da 6 said:I personaly can't beleve just 4 hp...cause you can actuly feel it on the butt dyno (In a autostick) before and after instal...vvt showed in improvement cause the stock airbox for the 6i was only 30% efficient with the resonator hanging off it alone. I am not saying that there might be a few dynoruns left out...just that it is a nice investment to the vvt community cause there is a restriction in your intake "VTCS" till you hit 4000 so this just lets in a tad bit more air before it disengages and after that is a screamin deamon on wheels...litteraly. I had the best of both words with sri and then converting it to cai with a price below what they charged for a sri alone...I only got an initial cel with the cai and now have obdII reader so i know if I have a real problem if the light comes back again.....been 1050 miles since I did the switch over and no cels like the actual name brand cai. and no a filter alone will not give the same gains cause the filter uses the almost same flow as the air box where the cai gives a more directon of air flow instead of it going into a box or series of boxes designed to dampen the sound over performance. removing the resonator and switching to a pannel drop in may be like 4 hp cuase you don't feel it but will still see it at the pump if were a good lil boy and stayed under 4000rpms when shifting and cruising(no) ... on some non vvt vehicle low end isn't lost but pushed upward in power band causing a need for adj cam gear(s) to be advanced but not on the 2.3 MZR vvt(S-VT) engine. Some made a intake but if the pipe diamiter for the maf is larger than stock where it plug in then you will get a slew of cels for the fuel trim changes.
p.s. good lil boy is ment as in expression not to belittle anyone (doh)
Da 6 said:yes...the dynos I saw said 12 on a short ram aem....I don't beleve that entirely....but with exhaust mod thats not too unlikely. You can feel the difrence in take off...I'm gonna dyno myself one say with box then sri and then custom cai extention...oneday...till then i'll stand by my lil more than 4 testemony.
rabidus said:So, roughly 3hp? with the air intake I posted?
Im not sure about the different types of power you guys were talking about...so much to learn.
BlueWolfCry said:very low results, i thinks its more for looks and sound. but with a header and exhaust, thats different, so do what you want, its not a loss if you plan to stay NA and get header, exhaust, etc. but stupid if you plan to turbo IMHO
mp5jeff said:look, if you already have a header/exhaust and you ADD a intake you will gain around 3whp, unless you have a bigass v8 stuffed under your hood with a bad stock intake...stop believing what manufacturers that are trying to SELL the product tell you.
how is it funny, im correct and you aren't sorry man...you act like you have the best engine in the world, you're wrong.AzMz3 said:This is funny, you guys really have no idea the potential of this engine.....
