1. in between the wheel and meters which can block the view so i dont really like that way.

2. above the middle A/C panel wheres Navi is but doesnt look good...

3. Driver's A/C vent with holes for a/c to flow out... probably the best bet

Since theres side airbags on the sides, is it possible to install there?

any other places to install the boost gauge? and which brand to recommend?

thanks

EDIT: post pic(s) of your gauge pod(s) would be nice :)

I haven't looked too far into it, but apparently there are a-pillar gauge pods that won't interfere with the air bag deployment. I think "rice" every time I see an a-pillar pod, but the options are limited. I don't like blocking an A/C vent, personally, so center dash & a-pillar seem most likely for my gauges, which should be coming by year's end. Just gotta decide which flavor of rice I want... *sigh*

I drilled a hole for a boost gauge in the middle of the panel above the cigarette tray between the pass. airbag light and the charger. Its a low key spot thats easy to read but not an eye sore.

How bout the ashtray, horizontal LED bar readouts and flip the cover closed to hide the rice

stealthy rice

I got this pod over a year ago from http://www.mearcat.com/ and have been very happy with, just thought I'd pass it along as another location for a gauge.

These are my gauges, i have the boost in the vent. But you can see the center gauges if you added 2 more it would work.

i would say a-pillar pod ftw, and i completely can't understand why somebody would call that rice. rice is something non-functional, ugly, out-of-place, etc., which the a-pillar is not (but i'm not trying to start a new 'what's rice, what's not' debate). a-pillar pod will provide you with the most optimal viewing position and a nice look. i tried the ventpod, did not like it much; anywhere in the center console is way too far for easy viewing. the triple pod that djza2u1 has looks like a nice solution too, but it's crazy expensive. get yourself a nice a-pillar pod, paint it like the pillar cover and you'll have a clean look with the best viewing possible. and don't be concerned with the airbag deployment; there's a special clip in the pillar cover that keeps it in place in that event. if you want a picture i can take one.

A-piller pods have a bad rap because of the "hey look at me and my clearly visible gauges as you drive by" look that many kids in crap cars go for. I agree that it's the most functional place to mount gauges, though.

^^ +1

A-pillar is the best in terms of function but it's got a real bad stigma attached to it! Chalk another one up to the F&F effect.

If I needed to get just one gauge, I would definitely consider the ventpod (choice #3) - I've seen pics of other MS3 owners with this setup and it looks very clean and integrated and the line of sight is acceptable.

i see, Kain, tho i'd like to think that most people use pillar pods for lack of a better mounting place (especially for more than one gauge), not to be flashy. i like to be stealthy myself, but i'd put functionality before that.
