More than you think...unless you've seen the car in person, you wouldn't understand. He transports the thing on a huge trailer (which by itself probably costs thousands) filled with all the parts he would ever need to replace or swap out & the tools to work on it. Well.. I can't find the post now but there was a thread with a report from J.D. Power... and well german cars have terrible reliability, only korean cars are worse. Don't worry the MK5 was already dispalyed in the Geneva auto show. It will be released next year, if I'm not mistaken. It has some design elements from the first golf.
