Don't be an ass, I know the differences. The R32 has the Haldex differential, which in most of VW & Audi's car means FWD most of the time & only AWD when you start to lose traction. The Torsen differential is used in Audi's Quattro & is usually AWD. Because of this, I've seen people claim that the R32 is the FWD/AWD setup because it uses the Haldex, but the fact is that it's permanent 4WD.

You said "Full time AWD", which AWD is. So I dunno how you think I was dissing you. (Means I wasnt dissing you).

so its PERMANENT 4WD... then its AWD...

Since its AWD, I wonder how it would perform on a rally track!

i would just make one my self for about 100K, i mean honestly, how much money would it take? lol
More than you think...unless you've seen the car in person, you wouldn't understand. He transports the thing on a huge trailer (which by itself probably costs thousands) filled with all the parts he would ever need to replace or swap out & the tools to work on it. Everything on that car is custom & the entire thing is filled with parts (meaning there is no space inside except for the 2 front seats).

Hondas are expensive to, but there is a reason for that. Quality!! VW builds a quality product along with Honda. Domestics aren't up to par yet, and they tend to be cheaper
Well.. I can't find the post now but there was a thread with a report from J.D. Power... and well german cars have terrible reliability, only korean cars are worse. German cars were nice back in the day, but they've gone to hell.

yea, but if you think about it, they are the only companies that are comming out with new technology for the cars. i mean come on German cars had the first HID's, first Navigation, first with almost all the high tech things that we all get in cars...

i hate the way the golf looks.....looks like this:

well i odn't like how the protege looks so (burp)

(not true only saying because he said that)

and the Golf looks like this anyways...

\______
/__|___|\__
\(X)____(X)/

Personally i think all VW's are way overpriced. And when i drive one, I don't feel that they offer any higher quality to justify it.

The R32 is an awesome car. Gorgeous, quick, and easily the less Ricey of the STI/EVO/R32. would i buy one for 29? **** no. 24-25....maybe, but even at 25 grand there are other cars I would probably consider.

I've never really liked the look of the Golf but I'd say the R32 is priced right where it should be for a VW. It's really all about the creature comforts that are standard with this thing and not even AVAILABLE on most other cars. 1 touch power windows down and up, incredible seats, rain-sensing wipers, adjustable for-and-aft headrests, the list goes on forever. Hell I think I even read somewhere that the windows are operational from the key fob! The only thing I'd worry about when it comes to buying a VW is reliability --- literally ever VW owner I've ever met has said they will NEVER buy one again...I think part of the problem is it might suffer from typical German over-engineering. They overcomplicate things.

You can get a pretty base model 4 cyl altima and have 1 touch power up and down, windows on the key fob, etc.

You know what? It won't be long, and VW will need to update the Golf body. I don't mean the minor changes that have occured over the years; I mean, a complete makeover. The thing is really dated. (blah)

Don't worry the MK5 was already dispalyed in the Geneva auto show. It will be released next year, if I'm not mistaken. It has some design elements from the first golf. Now with even more powerplants to choose from.........it will be a better car. 2.0 16v turbo 200hp and VR6. Check vwvortex.com fro more details!! :)

it will be a 2.0T 20V just larger displacement and it will be 200 HP yes, but the new GTI weighs more so it evens out with the old style GTI, so i am thinking about just tossing a 2.0T motor into my car and i will have 200HP with a stock motor and then do turbo upgrades.

This was taken from VWVortex.com.......it's the 2.slow with a new head and turbo......How much heavier is the new model anyway? more displacment equals more potential.......... Dropping this sucker in a MK4 will not be an easy task!! good luck. might as well upgrade your stock turbo system

From what we've been able to gather so far the U.S. Golf/Jetta V models will be coming in GL, GLS and GLX trim levels with an all-new 150hp 2.5l inline-5 cylinder as the base engine and an all-new 200hp 16v 2.0l 4-cylinder turbo as the uprated engine. The 3.2l VR6 should be a delayed introduction with 4motion all-wheel-drive. Enthusiasts can look for the 200hp 2.0l turbo in the new GTI which will be officially introduced next September at the Paris Auto Show. A design concept of the all-new GTI was shown at the Frankfurt Auto Show and the story and photos can be found
