Well I just blew my second, had it replaced at 9k miles and now I'm at 12,500, and the dealership is giving me the run around (go figure)
Doesn't that seem alittle soon to go through a second sub? I don't blare my stereo all that much, and I certaintly don't crank the bass, wtf, I think I'm just going to replace the b**** with a JL unit....

But no really, how many have you guys gone through?

dunno man , my first recomendation if you havent allredy , turn off "loud"
my original sub is fine. i listen to it at 24-28 all the time . loud off and set for 8"woofer on the menu .i dont even really tune it further then that its pretty good for all types of music. also dunno if it makes a diffrence but ive had similar flip face radios in diff cars,
ive learned to ALWAYS turn off the radio befor turning off the car. every time one of this kind of radio failed on me was while turning the car off it would lock up or freak out

i'm on my second one. I listen to it around 18 on highway only and around 10 or less on local road. The first one lasted me for about 13k miles. Hopefully this one will last me longer.

I just got my second one installed at just after 44,000 miles...Did you actually blow the speaker, or did the wiring just come loose?

im on my first - but my car just passed 9K
I usually listen at around 15-20 in the city and sometimes 24 windows down on the freeway - Loud ON and I dont shut off the stereo before stoping the car

4th one (headbang) They suck ass. Hell, I blew my third one just 3 hours after they installed it. I usually only listen to it between 15-25.

i think i blew mine last week ... finally found a great set of settings and turned it up. i never though an 8" could sound that good. seriously, i was amazed at that little thing (nothing compared to a good 12 but it was pretty damn good for a stock 8")

but i may have abused it a bit too much =\

14000km (just under 9000 miles)

Im still on my first sub and im at almost 19k miles. Only thing is it hasnt worked since day one!

I had my sub replaced but it wasn't blown, just rattling like crazy against the frame in the trunk. I guess you could say this is my third sub but it's only my second MSP. ;)

Got the same problem dude... the rattle seem to come from the SUB, but dealer changed it 2 time and the same rattle is there. In your case, did you change only the sub or the whole rack !? Thanks :) !!!

Question for all :
Whats the gain on you amp !? I heard that stock setting could be a little too high so thats why SUB are been blown by a lot of people (dunno) !!!?

on my second... loud always on.. only set it to like 3 tho... most of the time its on 28... i drive on the freeway alot... the rattle is all that crap plastic holding it together... i figure i will wait till my warranty runs out before I upgrade it... its fine for now...

mine didn't work when i bought the car, brought it back to have it replaced, the next week i took it out because my uncle gave me a 15 and thousand watt amp for free, just to let people know, there is NOTHINg in that car that rattles even at high ass bass levels, i love it

13 months, and 19400 miles later and im on my original sub. I have the bass set to +4 or +5, and i listen to cds no higher than 25.. radio usually at 20.
If it blows, i'll get a better one...

Had the car since May of 2003. 14,000 Miles. For the first year, never turned the stereo over 20-21 on the volume knob. I still don't turn it over 15 until the car is warmed up. I use the preset EQ's and don't crank up the bass.

Had to reset the deck once, and the sub sounds like it's brand new.

stereo

is that possible to fit a little JL in that stock enclosure? if so, is that enclosure efficient in producing bass?im a bass head, and i listen to mad rock all the time. i keep it on 30 to 32.i just blew my first sub at 20k in 1 yr.

18 and 10? That's barely even playing.

20-30 for me. Of course I don't have the stock sub or amp anymore, but I listened to music at that level, loudness off, NF set to 0, no bass boost for several months....no probs

14458 miles and still on the first sub. only ever used the stock settings. then my radio died at about 13000 miles. it's been 2 months and 9 days and i still don't have a radio. my dealer keeps telling me that it's on backorder from kenwood and he will let me know. he says that mazda is trying to find someone else to make a radio that will fit with the car and it's "sporty" attitude, yes the service guy said "sporty" attitude. they want to do a recall but can't until they find a replacement. not sure if any of this is official...just what i heard from the dealership. anyway, i've got a clarion deck in there now and it's decent. sounds pretty much stock. don't want to try to blow my sub. but i did want to know from anyone using the JL8w3v0 if it fits in the same enclosure or if i need a different box.
