How many miles you had before you replaced brake pads

I had 16,000 km on my '06 when the brakes started to pulsate last October. I complained about it (and the ever popular creaky suspension) when I had my oil change done and the dealership turned the rotors no charge. I think its true that if you do all your service at one dealer even if its just oil changes, they are more willing to help you if you have problems.
