These engines are unreal. I swapped clusters a few times so I don't know the exact number but I'm around 120K and still going strong. Curious as to where others are at and list any problems if any.

I've been through 3 MAF, 1 O2 sensor (pre cat), and 1 coil pack

never had a problem one with the engine.. its the damn ford tranny that gets me...

60,000ish. 1-Grinds going into second gear when driven rough. 2-Replaced 02 sensor. 3-probably needs a MAF, runs really rich on start up, extreme hesitation when it feels like it, and erratic idle once in a while. My stock exhaust tip whistles at high rmps, and every now and then you can put it in second or third from 0 mph to hear the same high pitch whistle. Other than all of the above things Ive come to ignore the car runs great and I love it. Will sell for blue book value if interested.

just hit 50k and on 3rd tranny :)

daym i got a lil over that on my 03 p5! i guess i do a lot of useless driving(but hey its fun) and snowboarding trips

I have you all beat... I've got 218,000km on 1999 Protege (original 1.6L engine). I definitely got my money's worth out of this car.

I had to get a new clutch at 180,000km (and just put in a new tranny at the same time cause it was cost effective at the time). I also got a new exhaust manifold/ Cat at around the same time, because my Cat was clogged which resulted in my manifold to crack.

But with my car being on the track/ auto-x, it's time for a new engine soon.

i got 87,000 miles and still running great. not a single problem with the tranny and I beat the s*** out of it. changed the clutch at around 50K and now I gotta chang it again because i didn't break it in and just beat on it when I got it out of the shop :).

do clutches really go that quik? i wanted to know if i have wheel hop or if my clutch was slipping... everytime i drop the clutch at before i floor it it seems to do that
but when i drop it when its at high rpms it won't... so it is just the motor mounts?

it's probably wheel hop. they usually don't, it all depends on how you drive the car. you can go with the stock clutch for easily 100K plus, just don't be dumping it everyday.

100,000miles and still runnin strong, 2 clutches, new transmission, 2 new axles, wheel bearings, new coil packs, struts (from wreck though)
