I have read hear in this forum that mazda only released anywher from 1700 to 4000 total 5,s in the u.s. for 2006.
Does anyone know how many they plan for 2007?

Reason I am asking this, is I am wondering if Mazda is just testing the waters with this vehicle and dont know if they plan on continuing making this vehicle available to u.s in coming years, especially in light of mpv being discontinued, and cx9 intro.
I would hate to have one of those "oddball" cars that very few people have, and parts , especially body parts, become difficult to obtain in the future.
I realize engine and transmission are readily available because of same engine being used by mz3 and some ford,s, but just worried about what would happen if mazda discontinued import after this year, and five years down the road, you have an accident and need body parts replaced
I hope this is not deemed a silly concern. If it is please explain why?

Stay safe

Silly concern. 2006 was their testing of the waters years and they sold like hotcakes. It may now appear that theyre not selling anymore, however thats probably due in part to the fact that yes, the market is becoming a little saturated and theyre producing more numbers now too. Just because the markets saturated, doesnt mean interest in the vehicle has flattenened, its just not quite the hot item with buyers anymore.

Even if this car flops in this country, which I highly doubt, its a huge success in others and parts should always be available. JMO on the subject.

Sales

It would be interesting to see what the sales of the Mazda5 are worldwide. I suspect that NA sales are a mere fraction of the int'l sales, especially in places like Europe and Asia.
Having said that, I hope the introduction of the Kia Rondo does not steal too much market share from the Mazda5. While the Kia cannot compare to the Mazda5 in looks and build auality, I'm sure the fact that it has better options and pricing (??) will detract some potential Mazda5 buyers.

We in Quebec (frenchies in Canada ;) ), buy a lot of these, anyway in Montreal. They are everywhere! I think it could be because we are a little "greener" than the rest of NA. There are also lots of Smart around here.

So yup, they are testing and yup, they sell well. We started here to see a couple TV ads and signs about the 5. They're not on high rotation, but you see them here and there.

I saw one commercial run several times over the 2006 Olympics. It had a 30-something guy walking through a school hallway with all these young girls oodling over him. Finally he walks into this room and this lady (his wife) says Hey Baby. Camera pulls back and hes wearing their kid in a chest harness. (The young girls were oodling over the baby, not him ;) ) Then the 2nd half of the commercial, of course, they walk outside and take off in a 5MT Mazda5. I forget the catch line of the ad, though.

Sounds goofy, but if it wasnt for that commercial, theres no way Id have a Mazda key in my pocket. I had no idea the car existed until then.

Yeah, I've seen this ad run several times on Canadian TV, but that's about it. I did see the Mazda5 advertised at the back of a People mag earlier this year. I guess it's becoming Mazda's best kept secret.
I still maintain, they probably sell enough of them outside of NA to not justify a cash-heavy marketing campaign.
I'm going to Toronto next week for a few days and will count how many of them I see. Here in Calgary I've seen at most 10 on the road for 2006. People still do a double-take (sometimes) when I drive by.

You'll probably see twice that in To! 5's are really popular here.

That tv commercial has been run ad nuasium! I think it was the only TV add Mazda was running for a while! It was just everywhere!

Really....So now I'm really looking forward to my trip...I hope you guys in TO have got some interesting aftermarket add-ons for me to look at. I'll let you know how the TO Mazda5 population compares to that of Calgary.

No ads in the states so far. I've seen a few on the roads. The dealer I go to has three 5s on his lot and about 30 CX-7s, which are slowly moving. It's one of two Mazda dealerships owned by the same company.
