How many Brits? Fancy a cuppa?

Yeah its so easy, just get a suitable app (of which there are several) and all the main ones are selected through that and roberts your mothers brother!!!

Alternatively if you have a fave station you listen to all the time just get their app and use that!

Isn't the quality of internet radio very poor as streamed at 128Kb?

In Belgium it is called the 2014 ipm2 version.
We ordered one second half of december en it will be delivered second half april.
One big change on the top model was that both front seats are powered and the driverseat gets memory function.
That's why I waited to order a few weeks.

That's one of my top criticisms with the car, electric drivers seat but no memory settings - ridiculous! Maybe they'll work with TomTom to sort out the sat nav because it's rubbish.

Some are better than others actually. I listen to internet radio a lot at home also. Not all are streamed at such low bit rates!

I have a good quality marantz receiver and very good quality monitors so Im assuming that played thru the 200+ watt bose system it would sound fairly decent. Give it a try, download the tunein radio app and see how you find it!

OMG I've received confirmation from my dealer this morning that my CX-5 is ready for collection (dance)
I'll be at the dealership 10am sharp, it would have been 8:30, but I have to get the kids ready too.

Anyone have any idea how long it takes for a collection?

20 mins (or 30-40) if they insist on showing you the stereo features pairing with BT etc. that was without a p/ex

tip: decline the stereo tour. my touch screen was covered in fingerprints in seconds. All the navigation can be done via the remote commander / steering wheel buttons. There was no need to touch the screen and set my OCD off again. (help)

Another Brit joins!

Hi guys,
I found this forum the other day, and have now worked my way through all the posts! There are some very interesting items on here.

I purchased a Soul Red CX-5 with Stone leather interior on 3 September - I think that I was lucky looking at the time some of you have had to wait to get your cars, I have driven Peugeots for the past 30 years (owning 30 in that time!!), so this was a big step for me to take to change to a Mazda. The reviews in the motoring press and, yes, the Top Gear stunt made me take a serious look at the CX-5.

I went into the local dealers mid August, and they had this brand new car in the showroom in the exact spec I was looking for, so after getting the personalised plate transferred at DVLA, the car was prepared ready for 3 Sep.

I had the front/rear undergarnish; scuff plates; welcome lights; LED DRL's; rear boot scuff plate; mud flaps and carpet mats fitted. The car looks absolutely stunning in the Soul Red - I declined the wax treatment as I like to wax my cars every 4 weeks with Auto Glym HDwax, but I have taken out the monthly Service Package with the garage as I wasn't sure how much the service costs would work out over 3 years.

The car has only done 1800 miles so far, mainly A/B roads and local roads here in rural Suffolk, but has performed faultlessly. I have had no problems with the oil level - the dipstick is the "C" type, and occasionally I have had the high revs start which does seem odd when it happens. The seat belt label indicates 14/06/2013, so I presume the car was manufactured around that time. I can get text messages through the audio system - I had to download an app, Bluetooth Phonebook for 1.99, so that my phonebook would sync with the car's Bluetooth. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S2.

I purchased a set of bespoke rubber floor mats from ebay (26.99 delivered) to save the carpet mats from winter mud & muck, and they are superb.

I have been considering buying the spare wheel, especially as I am going to the south of France in June, but the handbook seems to indicate that you should not put the space saver wheel on the front axle - so if you get a front puncture, it seems that you need to put one of the rear wheels onto the front and then the space saver on the rear. Has anyone else read about that?

With regard to replacement 19 inch tyres - I don't think that there are many other tyre manufacturers that do the 225/55/19V, it seems bespoke to the CX-5. I read in What Car that BMW also state in their handbook that you should use tyres from the same manufacturer on the same axle so that tread patterns are the same for safe handling.

All in all, I am so pleased with this car (some minor points apart), I have no rattles and have not noticed the bonnet or door mirrors flexing.

That's it for now, no doubt more posts from me soon.

Hi SuffolkBoy,

Thanks for the comprehensive run down on your CX experience to date; sounds like you are a happy owner. It's this sort of owner generated, no bullsh*t experience and information that makes these threads so interesting and useful.

On the same tyres / same axle issue. It's not the first time I have heard this and it is logical. I work with specialised vehicles (armoured Toyota Cruisers) and it is policy that ALL four tyres (and any spares) must be same make and model. So if there is a flat and no perfect match, all four tyres are changed so that all are same pattern.

I too would like this option.
I think its a little annoying for other drivers to see my DRL LEDs turn off every time I pull up at a junction and apply the handbrake, then flash back on when I release to pull away.
Surely that's more distracting that permanently on!
Mazda Tech. Dept. have e-mailed to say they do not offer a modification to enable the accessory fitted DRLs to remain on with side/headlights and suggested I talk to the Dealer.
He can't offer a solution so it looks like we are stuck with the problem

Did you get the car?

I updated gracenote today, has anyone else done it and if so have you noticed any improvement with USB commands?

The passenger side front carpet is getting wet near to the area where your heal would be. Its quite bad and because of this the inside is really misty in the morning. Anybody elase having this problem?

Thanks for the info. Thats pretty much the response I got from the dealer "they're meant to do that".
It is a shame really. (shrug)

I have noticed the windscreen is pretty poor at demisting on the icy mornings.
Engine runs so cold that it takes ages to clear automatically, so I'm resorting to using a cloth to clear the windscreen, which I would normally never do, but my patience has worn too thin.

Not aware of wet carpet though - is this from a passenger with wet/snowy feet or from driving through puddles?

Oh yes, we collected the car on Saturday morning :) :)

Everything went well, had a good look at the car to make sure that it was in good order. The only thing was the dash was a bit dirty, which they re-cleaned will be completed the handover. Salesman went through all the main features. Only 11 miles on the clock.
Very happy (cabpatch)

My wife said the Crystal White didn't look very pearlescent, but the car was parked in the shade, once it move into the sun, it was beautiful. The OEM LED running light really to finish of the front well, they should include these as standard.

Very nervous driving home, 20 miles through narrow'ish country roads, it felt like I was driving down the middle of the road. The i-stop is a bit unnerving for those that haven't had a car with this. My wife said that wont be a problem for her as she never puts the car in neutral!! Feels very solid and sure footed. On the way home we stopped of at a cafe, I forgot to press the stop button and I'm still not sure that I locked the car either! Got home with a very dirty car but we both said that we have definitely made the right choice.

The heated seats work well, having them on the lowest setting was good enough for me and the de-mist has worked pretty quick.

I've ordered a whole lot of cleaning gear so I can use the two bucket method. Ordered some protective paint film to line the door sills and DVD/iPad mount for may daughter.

I've read the keyless section in the owners manual twice and I'm still not clear on how this is set or work. I know its in there somewhere I just need to decipher all the variations ;)

What next? Lots more driving! I need to go for a drive on my own to find out the real limits of the car :) , full waxing (Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection), and I might have AlloyGator alloy wheel rim protection install. Does anyone have first hand experience on AlloyGator?

I'm also going to arrange my own Gap, wheel and dent insurance. I have quotes that are less than half that of Mazda, 154 gap insurance (New for old), 196 for Dent and 140 for wheels, all for 3 year. Any idea if that's good?

Now it has 80 miles on the clock.

Once I've driven it for a few weeks I'll let you know how its going. Have a Fantastic day.

I don't think it is from wet feet. I'm going to stop using the aircon, Fully dry it out and see how it goes. Hopefully it will stay dry. Start using the aircon again to see if i'ts not draining out correctly.

I find the istop irritating and a waste of time for my driving routes so I don't use it, I disable it every trip by pressing the off button rhs of the steering, one of the bank of six switches.

With the smart key just keep the key in your pocket, once you've got use to it you'll wonder why every car isn't the same, my Xtrail also had it.
I've set my car up to auto lock so its not possible to leave the car unlocked if all the doors are shut.
Set this up in set up, that's the button located top rhs of the screen. You have 3 time options.

I wouldn't push the car too far to begin with as I found the brakes and tyres needed running in, I've red lined the engine from day one, so I wouldn't worry about that side of things.

I should have gone the sort it my self "gap" route but took the dealers, they said it was a better cover, I don't think it is after reading the details fully, just the same as the half price ones, but who knows for sure until you claim, anyway I couldn't be bothered to cancel it.

I'm not as keen as you with the body protection, just a wax every year, and a wash every month in a good wax wash by myself.
But I did spend 3 days under the car painting the metal work that I could reach, I don't like rust.

I must admit driving the car is a pleasure, the wife says the car makes a different noise when I set off, that's because I sometimes use full throttle and the 4wd cuts in!
